scene kid

"Scene" is a sort of subgenre, a mixture of emo and preppy. You can usually spot a scene kid from miles away by their bright, attractive eyeliner/hair colors. Scene boys and scene girls both wear tight girl jeans; usually of the drainpipe variety. Scene girls are often found in attractively arranged if not totally random outfits, which consist of tight jeans, cute tee shirts or thermals with things like hello kitty, the teenage mutant ninja turtles, or power rangers on them. Vans slip ons, usually checkered, make up the majority of their footwear, as well as ballet flats, and just plain flats. Occasionally, wedges, too. Their outfits vary from person to person; vintage sweaters and vests are also popular, as well as tight, gray or black zip up hoodies. And band tee shirts are a must, mostly for metal bands, however, with incomprehensible writing on them and some drawing of a person being eviscerated, and the like. White studded belts are also popular. They also wear large, chunky necklaces, pearls, et cetera.

For boys, it's pretty much the same, however, instead of flats, they're inclined to wear skate shoes, and large "gangster" hats are popular as well. Both genders tend to have lots of piercings, such as a septum, monroe, and the less popular septum. Mostly, they've got a piercing on one side of their lip, and gauges in their ears. Scene boys hair is more often a plain color, such as black or red or brown, as opposed to the myriad of colors that girls can covet. Both usually possess choppy, over-one-eye hairstyles, though they sometimes have mod bangs, too.

Boys can wear eyeliner, though it isnt as encouraged as it is in the emo culture, and girls wear as much or as little as they please. Scene girls are also pretty obsessed with designer labels, such as Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna. Also, both can be seen wearing clothes from stores such as Hollister and Abercrombie. Sidekick 3's are very often used by scene kids. Scene boys are usually a lot less nice than scene girls, though, obviously, it depends on the person. Straight edge is becoming less and less trendy, though a lot of scenesters still are. Christianity and vegetarianism are both pretty trendy, however.

Emo kids and scene kids are completely different, and are not to be confused. Scene kids are more into the 'local scene,' and to the majority of them, music means everything. They'll always be spotted at local shows, concerts, coffeeshops, etc. Scene girls are usually obsessed with fashion, and fashion magazines (i.e. Vogue, and Teen Vogue). Fake eyelashes are also highly associated with scene girls, and they often shave off their eyebrows and pencil them on. Why, you ask? Nobody knows. False nails, and being extremely pale are pretty scene as well. Also, scene kids will always, always, always deny that they are scene. That's one of the many ways you can spot a poseur. After all, real scene kids are too scene to admit that they're scene.

Energy drinks are also highly popular with them, as well as Glaceau Vitamin Water. They also are prone to saying things such as "wdup blud," and "lawlz." Pretending to be a gangster is a big part of the scene image, and many scene kids even listen to rap. But it doesn't make them any less scene! Scene kids always have a myspace, or a xanga, or a facebook, or all three, as well. Their myspace display names are usually something along the lines of "______ Murder," "______ Homicide," etc, etc, though it varies with the person.

Myspace pages of theirs are often filled with songs that used to be popular, (i.e. Tainted Love, All the Small Things, and old rap songs-- you get the picture) and numerous photographs of their favorite designer logo, their alcoholic beverage of choice, and their cell phone. Hello Kitty is also highly popular with girls, as well as coloring books, black and white photographs, and a cityscape photograph. For boys, they often have pictures of admiring scene girls who make them signs, banners for bands that they like, and an energy drink they love.

in conclusion, scene kids r rad! lolz.

Morgen Murder: wdup brah?
Catherine Catalyst: nadaaa grrrl. sup @ you?
Tony Terror: hey grrrlz!
Morgen Murder: omfg, he is soo hawt. lawlz.
Catherine Catalyst: I KNOW! LOL!
Tony Terror: yaaaa baby. r u going to the show tonight? it should be hella tuff.
Catherine Catalyst: like duh!!!! <3333<33
Morgen Murder: lol, what a scene kid!
Catherine Catalyst: IK! but he is too scene to admit it!

scene kids

many of these deffinitions of "scene" kid are pretty dead on, but i beg to differ like any "sub culture" not all "scene" kids are jerks, etc

i think the backlash against these "jerk scene kids" has just resulted in the mainstream infiltrating the underground culture of what has become "scene" and so lots of "jocky boys" who just want sex and "holla back girls" who just want sex have latched on to it...

there are quite a few nice perfectly respectable people that are "scene"

people who are scene looking and follow the ideals without all the negativity...duh

scene kid

Ok scene is NOT to be confused with emo! Scene embodies a certaint style and attitude towards life , usually more postive than someone who might be emo. Im most definately not stereotyping, but there ARE some observations ive made....

A Large part of being a scene kid is the style...

Guys:
Hair:Straightened,almost always w/ sidebangs.Sometimes dyed.
Clothes : tight pants ( girl pants) , tight bands Ts and hoodies. studded belts. Shoes: Vans , skateboard sneakers, sometimes boots.Sometimes slightly bisexual.

Girls: very diverse. Hair usually straightened , dyed and cchoppily cut shoulder length or shorter. Studded belts , beads and polka dots are common. studded belts. usually darker clothes paired and layed with brighter shirts. Vans , flats , and skateboard shoes popular.

Both: * usually ave a thing for myspace. screen names and myspaces have lots of Xxs before and after ( Xx________xX)
* lip piercings
* love of strange sort of cutesy things : polka dots, japanese anime , comic books, colorful jewelry.
* enjoy sayings like : thats the sex , shit , shiznit, rave , ect. The word rad or uber-rad. also rawr and arf. enjoy ghetto sayings that they find entertaining.

listens to : emo, indie , powerpop, classic rock, metal , hard rock , really anything.

Scene Kids

Stylish man or woman, deriving from an "Emo Kid".
But unlike "Emo Kids" Scene Kids normally wear the complimentary colors or they do go with a smiliar style to the Emo fashion.
Scene kids are not "gay" as some people claim.
It is a style, not a oreintation.
They normally wear scarves, or bandanas in their back pocket.
They also have a very technical hairstyle with two or more different colors.
Sometimes, they are more morbid then "Emo Kids" but normally they are "brighter".
Scene kids are sometimes self-absorbed.
But that does not mean they all are.
Scene kids are also known as, Fashion Kids.

Scene Kids are not gay just anti-mainstream.

Scene Kids

for the love of God, come on.
i mean, everyone makes fun of 'scene' kids or 'emo' kids for comforming to something that is supposed to be a symbol of non-comformity. You are all contradicting yourselves. Your saying that you want to hurt/kill/piss on?!? someone for the way they look? Has the human race honestly regressed that far back? take a look at movies like - mississippi burning, the pianist or to kill a mockingbird. Your acting the same way as the people in the movies. Your critisiing someone for their beliefs. I do not identify as 'emo' 'indie' or 'scene' but i do own vans slip ons, i do wear tight jeans, and i do listen to bands that the majourity of my classmates have not heard of. But just because my jeans are tighter than yours does not make me a lesser human being, or a 'fag' as you so delictaly put it. someone listens to obscure bands? Why the fuck do you care? get a FUCKING hobby. please. people who listen to unpopular music do so, for the most part, because music is a huge part of life for them, and seeing it slowly stripped down and sold for ratings waters down the concepts that the music originaly held. That is why they prefer to listen to bands that you dont know about, so that they DONT become like my chemicle romance, fall out boy, ect. If you still thnk that they are conforming, than think of this. People who go to AE or AF ae spending ALOT of money on the clothes they buy. Kids who go to vintage stores are buying cheap and for the most part really nice clothing. everyone, whether you want to admit it or not, has before, will in the future, or is copying someone. It doesnt make you a bad person though, it makes you a human, cause the sad fact is, that there is no originaly left, everything has been done. So if kids want to hold on to what they see as the last shred of originaly left in modern society, let them. and fuck off.

uneducated person's rant -
emo boyz and scene kids are such FAGS. with their girls jeans and eye liner. They are all trend followers! i want to kill them all because they listen to obscure music and wear clothes that fit well. i will also make durogatory comments about the size of their genitals, specualte about their sexual preferences and continuely judge them as a whole instead of everyone at a time. HARDXCORE

educated person's rant - (see above)

Scene kids

Scene kids are usually and almost always teenagers who have very specific interests. Scene kids like the latest things in fashion, music, and pop culture. For example, Hello Kitty is a huge favorite for scene girls. scene boys usually like Pokemon, Dinosuars, Gloomy Bear, and other childish things. But all scene kids, no matter what gender, enjoy these things. As for music, scene kids like most Electronic or Techno, Rock, Hardcore Rock, sometimes Indie, and occasionally Hip-Hop. But you won't see scene kids listening to Hip-Hop artists like Eminem or Missy Elliot. Jeffree Star and Scene Kidz are more of their hip-hop. The bands that scene kids listen to are usually underground and not very popular. Some bands they like are::: Dance Gavin Dance, Jeffree Star, Electric Valentine, Glamour For Better, Scene Kidz, Hawthorne Heights.
The scene fashion should NOT be confused with Emo!!!
Girls::: Tight, colorful jeans, neon or brightly colored clothes featuring bands or Hello Kitty, large jewelry, jelly bracelets, funky colored Vans or Converse, high heels are sometimes okay, headbands, Terry Cloth wristbands, leggings, and large earings. Everything should be big and bright! As for make-up, use lots of color. Eyeliner is a must, sometimes girls like to form "cat eyes" with the eyeliner. Eye shadow is also helpful. Lip gloss is exceptional.
Boys::: Skinny/slim fit jeans are a must, neon colored shirts are perfect, shirts with Dinosaurs and Pokemon are good, band tees, belts should be bright too, Terry Cloth Wristbands, jelly bracelets, Vans are popular amongst the guys, LARGE SUNGLASSES!!!
You can find these items at Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters, and Journeys.

Hair can vary. A popular style for girls is long hair on the side, short in the back, and puffy on top. Color is almost a necesity. Pink, blue, yellow, purple, or multi-colored are good colors for streaks.
Boys haircuts tend to clone that of Emo. But not always! Fo-hawks have become popular as well. A Fo-hawk is a haircut featuring short in the back and front, and the top is mooshed together like a mohawk but shorter. Boys hair can also be colored or bleached blonde or jet black. It doesn't always have to be in your face.

Scene kids tend to be more positively oriented than Emo kids who are more emotional. Scene kids are usually obnoxious, hyper, sarcastic, but friendly. However, scene girls tend to be sorta bitchy towards other scene girls. :D
Scene kids actually have goals in life. Many scene kids want to persue in careers such as Hair Dresser, Fashion Designer, Graphic Designer, Magazine Writer, Model, Photographer, or anything creative.

Scene kids love the internet, like Myspace and Facebook. They also enjoy taking pictures of themselves. Pictures are usually taken from greater heights or at abstract angles to give strong effects.

Overall, Scene kids should not be mixed with Emo kids since they are very different.
YAY SCENE KIDSSS!!!!

"Scene" is a word used today to describe a sub-culture in society including people known as Scene Kids.
