The stage in an ideology's dominance where people under its dominance pretend to believe in it to avoid getting into trouble.
Usually implies that, despite or even because of the pretence involved, most people are hostile to the ideology, and are barely restrained from voicing their displeasure or disbelief by fear of dire consequences.
Named after Leonid Brezhnev, former leader of the USSR, whose rule saw a massive outbreak of cynicism about the ruling elite, and the attitude of "We pretend to work, and they pretend to pay us."
Guy: What did you think of that diversity seminar?
Jules: I think those people are nuts. At least half of white America is at the Brezhnev stage with diversity and affirmative action. The other half hasn't been mugged yet.

When you get a boner whilst performing on stage. Unfortunately you can't do much about it and continue performing.
I went to see Equius last week. The actor had such a stage hard when touching that horse. Poor bloke had to face downstage once or twice.
The first six months of a woman's engagement, when her number one priority is informing as many people as possible that she's engaged and/or showing off her wedding ring as much as possible.
It's difficult to get anything done in the office while Suzy is still in the Braggadocio Stage. All she does is talk about the wedding.
It's like a Bonus Stage except it's Doilus Stage and you can't escape it. It is of legendary status.
Guy: I bet you know what a Bonus Stage is but have you heard of the legendary Doilus Stage?
Other guy: Yes. So much fun!
The stage of a relationship in which the couple is banging constantly, rendering the couple incapable of any social contact with the outside world.
"Did you hang out with Trey this weekend?"
"Nah, he and Gabby are in the Rabbit Stage... Haven't seen either of them in months."
It’s basically just a mind fuck and really a waste of time, cause most of the time it doesn’t work but when it’s does I guess it could be great, but I mean I wouldn’t know sigh*
If I go through another failed talking stage I give up

These are the kind of parents that will do just about anything to gain fame, money or prestige through the beauty and cuteness of their children. A good example of these type of parents can be found in reality shows like "Toddlers and Tiaras" or "Dance Moms".
Becky: Did you see that dance routine that Ava performed on "Toddlers and Tiaras" last week?
Grace: *sighs* Yes.
Becky: What's wrong with it?
Grace: There's nothing wrong with the routine, or with Ava - for that matter. It's her parents.
Becky: There's something wrong with her parents?
Grace: Yeah, *scoffs* they're stage parents, duh!
