Vocal solo

A vocal solo occurs when an artist decides to vocally improvise during a song. They are marked by either intense and sudden crescendos or quick octave fluctuations.

Vocal solos are very difficult to perform because creating a new set of lyrics on the spot is something many artists cannot do. As a result, vocal solos often feature artists singing indiscernible lyrics or repeating a word/phrase.

"I thought the shat had hit the roof until Aretha laid down that vocal solo... Improvising was a good move because that shit was bunk. But it was powerful, man! It brought a tear to my eye."

vocal motion

A small "selective" musical group/cult. They sing, dance, and gyrate on stage. Long rehersals means long nights and VM sleepovers.Which basically means sex, drinking, and boardgames! Represented by the colors black and gold, and led by a hairy italian man who spends his days sweating and taking care of his lovely children. If you are lucky enough the sweaty guy may even make you some spaghetti, that is if you mow his lawn or babysit the kids. This group has claimed to get you a full scholarship to college, yet this theory has yet to be proven. Most students graduate out of this program to go to community colleges or the drive-thru at a burger joint. Claims to be recognized for excellence all over the country. This too is yet to be proven..

Doc:"Everyone wants to be in Vocal Motion, and if they say they dont, then they are lying!Everyone hates us until they get in and lose all their friends and babysit my kids. Then you get spaghetti and long days with me, and that my friends, is a good life."

vocal run

The movement/flexibility of the larynx which enables the voice to hit individual notes at a fast speed.

Many gospel, soul, pop, and R&B artists apply vocal runs in their songs as means of enhancing their overall sound.... or showing off.

Tori Kelly, Jill Scott, Mariah Carey, Jessie J, and Natalie Weiss do vocal runs perfectly and are great examples of female artists who apply vocal runs to their songs.

Male artists such as Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, Avery Wilson, and Luke Edgemon do vocal runs perfectly as well.

Tori Kelly's vocal runs are SO PERFECT.
