Duppy hammer is used to describe a person that looks dead or in other words ugly. The "duppy" part describes how the the person especially a female look, the "hammer" describes the tool that the devil uses to do his work. Hammer is also reference to MC Hammer.
A word used amongst older Caribbeans to describe an ugly, short fat person. Broken down, a duppy is a hideous demon or ghost and sand, suggesting the duppy is close to the ground, as in short.
