fanfiction

N.

A fun pass time for anyone to partake in, fanfiction (often abbreviated into 'fanfic' or 'fic'). Various types of fanfiction include, but are not limited to…

•Oneshot (A fanfic that is one chapter long)
Twoshot (A fanfic that is two chapters long)
•Threeshot (A fanfic that is three chapters long)
•Novel-length
•Short story
Drabble (one-hundred or near words in length)
Ficlet (shorter than a drabble, yet still relevant enough to be a story)

There are many more, but listing them all would take too long.

Many of them are written by illiterate idiots who don't bother to proofread or use a spell-check, and they often have many horrible stories. However, there are plenty of literate, believable, proofread fanfictions out there if you know where to look.

Almost any genre and scenario has been written at least once. And pairings are never-ending as well.

•Slash (MxM)
Femmeslash/Femslash (FxF)
•Gen (No relationship, or it's not a big part)
•Het (MxF)

Those are types of pairings. Fanfiction can be an amazing thing if you know how and where to look for it. (Hint: archiveofourown.org AO3 is a great place with a great community. I wouldn't recommend FanFiction.net simply because of the lack of acknowledgement for new writers)

Happy reading!

Person One: Man, that Death Note fanfiction I read last night was awesome!
Person Two: What was it called? I want to check it out.

Fanfiction

Fanficion is a form of writing where people take characters/ plots from books, movies, tv shows, ect and make it into something new. Some fanfiction an be bad and use smut, but a lot of fanfiction is well written. There are different forms of fanfiction. You have your oc and occ characters and plots and then you have the ones that stick to the same characters.

I just finished my Jasper and Bella twilight fanfiction and it has over 8k views.

fanfiction

When writers steal the work of authors and re-create them as their own, but never comes close to the original. Good writers are nearly impossible to find amongst the millions of horrible piles of trashy writing, and even then, never do what the true author would have done. So ultimately it ends up being a waste of time. Everyone tries to convince themselves that fanfiction is okay, but mostly they're just being selfish pricks with no regards to the authors who have to deal with their horrible renditions contaminating the internet. Fanfiction authors do not realize changing a character's sexual orientation is flat out wrong and is akin to changing a character's race because you thought they'd be a cuter couple if they were both white instead. Even gay activists find the gay-twist to be insulting and idiotic. The only type of legal copyright infringement.

Fanfiction writer: i want to screw up a really good story-line with amazing characters, but I want them to all be gay
Reader: go for it! I'll lose interest once I realize how bad your writing is anyways.

fanfiction

Fanfiction is, quite frankly, fiction written by fans, which either PORTRAYS:</p>

<p>1) <b>CHARACTERS</b> in a different light (often the way the fanfiction-author believes him/her to be like). More than half of the time, a fanfiction-author will most likely use only the obvious traits that these characters display, and sometimes, monopolize these traits in a way that a few consider to be out of proportion.</p>

<p>2) <b>SITUATIONS</B> the fanfiction-author had not seen and, possibly, will not see within the original, published work. These situations can take place within the original work's time frame, environment, etc, or they can take place in an alternate time and/or environment, which then makes the fanfiction AU (Alternate Universe).</p>

<p>3) RELATIONSHIPS which might or might not stay true to the original, published work. More than half of the time, characters might be out of character due to the aforementioned (1&2), but occasionally, an author will stay true to a character's personality as they match them up with another character. </p>

<p>Example (1 -CHARACTERS):<br>
a) "pretty boys" can be feminine physically, mentally, and/or emotionally - even if their original character might not be (<i>Youko Kurama/Minamino Shuuichi</i> - needy, weepy, easily hurt - from Yoshihiro Togashi's <u>Yuu Yuu Hakusho</u>)<br>

<p><b><i>OR</i></b>
<br>the personality traits and quirks of a character hinted in original work is then be written out fully by the fanfiction-author, as a means to get a better understanding of the character, or show this possible side of a character to others (<i>Kuwabara Kazuma</i> - kindhearted, brave, lives with older sister, perhaps without parents, gangs - from Yoshihiro Togashi's <u>Yuu Yuu Hakusho</u>)

<p>Examples (2 -SITUATIONS):
<br>characters that had died in the original work will be brought back to life, either with or without a reasonable explanation as to how their death might not have been real ... or how they were saved by whatever means were necessary (<i>Sirius Black</i> from J.K.Rowling's <u>Harry Potter series</u>)</p>

<p><b><i>OR</i></b>
<br>characters of one published, original work is thrown into the universe of another published, original work; these fanfictions are called crossovers (Yoshihiro Togashi's <u>Yuu Yuu Hakusho</u> and J.K.Rowling's <u>Harry Potter</u> series)</P>

<p>Examples (3 -RELATIONSHIPS)
<br>two characters who, in the published, original work, did not have a strong relationship would, in the fanfiction, be involved either romantically (<i>Draco Malfoy</i> and <i>Harry Potter</i> from J.K.Rowling's <u>Harry Potter</u> series) or non-romantically (<i>Harry Potter</i> and/or <i>James</i> and <i>Lily Potter</i> from J.K.Rowling's <u>Harry Potter</u> series)</p>

fanfiction

Something really fun for extrenely bored people who like their favorite show/movie/video game too much. Some are good. Most of them, however, are bad.

MSTing bad fanfiction gives people headaches, but does the world a service
