temporal narcissism

The self-centeredness or vanity of an individual expressing itself through dysphoria caused by the inability to pause, rewind, or fast-forward stimuli or events occurring around him or her in the same way he or she can pause a TiVo or other media device.
(as described on CNet podcast 591)

-Temporal narcissism is often seen when people regrettably remember that they can't rewind the movie they're watching at the movie theater when they couldn't make out what was said.

-Example of temporal narcissism: Driving home from work today, I got really indignant after remembering I couldn't pause the radio while I ordered dinner at the drive-through window.

Virtual Narcissism

Temporarily simulated narcissism. To imply boastfulness, conceit, egocentricity in a virtual world or Social Media outlet such as Facebook.

Virtual Narcissism is the insecure act of requesting friends you do not know, simply to boast how many people you imply you know to the virtual world of Facebook, MySpace or any other Social Media outlet found on the World Wide Web with no intention to network or act of personal gain. It is simply to stroke the ego, while spending personal wasted hours adding friends you will never meet in the real world.

The need for virtual popularity is known as Virtual Narcissism

Narcissism Ratio

The ratio of photos of yourself you've added in Facebook to those added by others. Mitigating considerations may include Korean Tourist Disorder, which compels one to take pictures of oneself in front of every landmark encountered regardless of its insignificance.

Dick: Jane is such a self-centered bitch. She has like 700 photos of herself tagged.
Dave: Srsly. Her narcissism ratio is off the charts.

voice narcissism

1. The uncontrollable, annoying compulsion to over emphasize the pronunciation of certain syllabic sounds that are not commonly emphasized. These are usually emphasized on non-accented syllables in words that most people slur over - often to the severe annoyance to coworkers and family members. ex: Portal is said POR-tal. But a VN (voice narcissist) will pronounce it por-TAL.

2. the uncontrollable urge to hear one's own voice above an instead of all others. Includes laughing loudly at inappropriate times, or making phone calls for the express purpose of talking loudly so that you can hear your own voice.

3. being obsessed with the sound of their own voice and how is echoes back to them...

4. And causing a scene or "car crash" with words so as to be noticed above all others. To include loudly saying BEEP! In order to censor themselves.

5. the benefit to the VN of hearing one’s own voice is inversely proportional to the inconvenience to those in the immediately surrounding area.

Did you hear Donna on the phone? She makes the most retarded noises and talks so loudly. It's as if she can't be happy unless she annoys the crap out of us with her voice narcissism.

vulnerable narcissism

A personality construct characterized by fragile self-esteem, a sense of entitlement and a total lack of resilience to life's ups and downs. Contrary to popular thought, it is not a distinct personality type, but rather the outcome of a prior issue such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Paranoid Personality Disorder. Avoidant Personality Disorder or just extremely low self-esteem.

People with high levels of vulnerable narcissism tend to be excessively self-conscious, self-absorbed and expect to be handled with kid gloves at all times. Intolerance to differing opinions and an egregious sense of victimization tend to characterize these types. (See Social Justice Warrior)

If you know someone whose self-esteem seems to be excessively unstable and fragile, you might be dealing with someone with high amounts of vulnerable narcissism.

Bob: My girlfriend has Borderline Personality Disorder and tends to lose her shit when I don't want to go to her favourite restaurant every damn night.
John: Because she has too much vulnerable narcissism, bro. It makes her entitled to special treatment.
