indie bro

half indie hipster, half bro.

Bron is an indie bro and can often be found at indie concerts wearing plaid flannel shirts and dark denim jeans. When he isn't drinking at a concert venue, he's at frat parties at UC Santa Cruz, even though he graduated from there 7 years ago.

indie kid

a teenager (usually) who prefers smaller bands too huge sell-out stadium rockers. Nowadays known for stage invasions and energetic bands. Generally thought of as an new thing, but has actually got roots to the eighties with the Smiths and Joy division etc. Wear small shirts and skinny jeans generally but you get variants as diverse as charity shop and the like (Larrikin Love example) and smart blazers and suits (Maximo Park). Called Indie as they like individual music and try to DIY everything.

Indie kid: I love Shut Your Eys and You'll Burst Into Flames and have tickets for their next 13 gigs.

indie poser

Usually a really rich brat who tries to act like they love the environment even though they drive a Toyota SUV. They constantly talk about going to college in Colorado and try to make radical statements which are often not radical in any shape or form. They also use polaroid instant cameras and use film cameras for taking their facebook or myspace profile pictures. They are normally underage and act like they will be the one that will change the world. They also constantly talk about the Beatles, John Lennon, and The Flaming Lips.

"So did you hear that Alex is going to Colorado for college?"

"Yea and his parents are letting him take his 4Runner, he'll fit in really well with all those other indie posers."

Indie Poser

An Indie Poser is an individual who decides to go "indie" because they want to try to be "different". They will most likely take bubblegum pop music and change the song title, artist and album name, and also the album artwork so that it looks as though it were indie. They also try to get the "indie look" by wearing stupid crap that doesn't match. When asked what stereotype they would consider themselves, they will usually respond, "Oh, I'm SOO indie." If you check their iPod, they will say, "You probably won't know any of the bands, they're ALL INDIE." You must avoid these people. They are obnoxious and dumb.

Indie: Hey, have you ever heard of "She Who Paints Walls"? It's this fairly new indie band.
Indie Poser: LOL yeah! I have all of their songs!
Indie: You do realize I just made that up, right?
Indie Poser: ....

Indy Snowball

Doggy style sex. Before climax, give her a donkey punch. While she is knocked out, roll her over and shoot your load on her tits. Then lick the jizz off her tits. When she wakes up, snowball the cum in her mouth.

It was the middle of Summer in Pheonix, but she still got hit with an Indy Snowball.

Indie Kid

To my understanding an indie kid is someone who is not afraid to show their individuality. Generally, they dress in vintage or thrift store clothing, wear moccasins, or really anything that isn't quite main stream.

They also listen to mainly music that is classified under "indie rock" or "alternative". Typically signed by an independent music label.

Some bands that they commonly listen to are Death Cab For Cutie( a band popular amongst others that aren't indie), Of Montreal, Little Man Tate, Bromheads Jacket, Mumm-Ra, ect.

Though, that is not the only music they listen to, and usually they aren't completely against large labels despite the fact that many people like to make it seem this way.

Don't confuse a true indie kid with a poser or hipster (if that is what you prefer to refer to them as)

Hipsters like to advertise their individuality by going against anything completely main stream

Indie Kid: Wow! I really love Milburn, don't you?

Hipster: Yeah, they are so indie and different! Not like that crap that Katy Perry tries to sell.

Indie Kid: Uhmm... Okay, I kinda enjoy Katy Perry as well.

Hipster: Well, her music is the same as everyone else's! You're not a real indie kid!

Indie Kid: Alright then.

indie rock

Arguably the best sub-genre of modern music today, not that that's saying much. Is highly derivative of 80s college rock and 90s alternative rock. The overall sound is often highly pretentious, and it is clear that many indie rock artists consider themselves to be musical geniuses. Never mind the fact that the songs hardly ever deviate from standard song structure and cliche lyrics(albeit in a pretentious fashion, utilizing ridiculous metaphors and overblown instrumentation). Still, a step up from the pop punk and party rap on MTV.

Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, TV on the Radio, Modest Mouse, Arctic Monkeys, Broken Social Scene, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. These are all indie rock bands. It should be noted that some of these bands take a garage rock approach, yet the ridiculously convoluted lyrics and delusions of genius remain. Sounds like some people missed the point of punk rock's simplicity.
