A really great amusement park that is about 5 minutes away from my house.

Person 2: "What- you mean the tallest, fastest ride on the planet? Yeah, twice."

Leafs' Point

In the National Hockey League, a team is awarded a single point in the standings when losing the game in overtime or in a shootout (they receive 0 points if they lose in regulation time) while the winning team is awarded 2 points. This single point is sometimes referred to as the "Leafs' Point" because it is the primary way that the Toronto Maple Leafs accumulate points in the standings due to their low number of regulation wins.

The Red Wings blew a 3 goal lead and lost to Edmonton in overtime, but at least they still picked up the Leafs' point.

point whore

A person that bases all transactions around the goal of acquiring "points" from a retailer's reward system. In many cases, these points are earned at the cost of pennies on the dollar. Very common with people that travel for work, and horde airline, hotel and credit card points.

Steve is a point whore, because he opted to stay at the Marriott across town for the points, instead of the Hilton across the street from his client's office..

sticking point

(n.) A crucial situation, contradiction, or contention, with importance conveyed by context and tone. Synonyms include sticky wicket, sticky widget.

Lulu's sticking point was not which nail polish to use on her Lee press-on fingernails. Sparkly polish always did the trick. Rather -- which would be better for the toes? Puke green?
