Some Random Douchebag: Why are those emos always crying?
Random Douchebag's Friend: Do you not know it stands for emotional?

A short lived sub-genre of the alternative scene comprised of teens and 20 somethings that couldn't decide if they wanted to be punk or goth. Died with Myspace.

Emo (shortened for emocore or Emotional Hardcore) is a subculture of Hardcore Punk that began in the 1980’s and was Popularized in the early 2000’s. The genre itself expands in more complicated emotional topics (coining the term “Emo”)
In music style the genre is split into multiple different forms (Pop punk, Hardcore punk, Progressive, Indie). The genre originally was named Screamcore (Screamo for short) which was coined by its use of screaming in lyrics: however the term screamo is also used to stereotypically describe music that has screaming in its lyrics. As of now In its dressing style it takes on a Punk Rock appearance but dawning a rather emotional aesthetic using black however it’s not officially a style of dressing. A form of this dress style (that is officially its own dressing style I would like to add) is called Scene. Scene is a rather colourful dress style that is used by Self Described “emos” As a style of dressing.
As of bands: the music genre of emo has a mall (another way to say pop) style which includes Bands such as “My Chemical Romance”, “Fall Out Boy”, “Panic! At The Disco” and “All Time Low”. While lesser know bands such as “Funeral For A Friend”, “The Used”, and “Rites Of Sprint” occupy the more describable Emotional Hardcore bands
Emo is also used sometimes as a insult to people who dress in Monotonous black and white (for example: gothic dressing style and Rivethead)
it’s also an Abbreviation of the word “Emotional”
The band seemed a rather Emo with their fast and heavy guitar and drums, though their dressing seemed rather positive and cheep
