a common word that most white people use in white only circles.generally to describe african americans. a word that whites love to say but are angered they cannot say it in public. not to be confused with "nigga" the positive form of nigger.
coincides with "cracker" a term used by blacks to describe whites. to decribe the "crack of the masters whip 400 years over"

1.Its initial use began during the slave trade and is used today in some circles, as a term to describe black people with no negative connotation.
2.The word then evolved into derrogatory term used by the slave owners and subsequentially by racists towards black people and because of this use, is still an offensive word.
The main point here is slavery. Referring to an individual as "nigger" in this context is akin to calling them a slave or somebody of a lower class.
3.Descibes a person of any race, sex, religion or any other social division who embodies negativity and is proud of it or makes no effort to change ie lazy, ingnorant, lacks ambition, leeches off other people, takes no responsbilty for themselves etc.
In this context, used by black people, the term is more an attack on the character of a person rather than their race.
There is a difference between a black man/woman and a nigger, mainly in their attitudes towards life and how they behave.
Using this definiton you could say that every race has niggers, people that generally do nothing positive for society.
4.A term of endearment and familiarity similiar to blood, mate or buddy- popular in the entertainment industry.
This use of the term has been controversial as many believe that the word's meaning has changed with the rise in popularity of hip hop culture. This has seen the word been used as a term of endearment between black people, black and white people, white people and practically every other race which has integrated hip hop culure.
However many still believe the word can only have negative connotations and to use it as a term of endearment or as an alternative name for black people shows an ignorance of black history.
Others see it as a double standard that black people can say nigger and its "ok", or that the media can use terms derrogatory to white people eg. white trash free from consequence but if the situation were to be reversed it would become a racist issue.

A euphemism, used in everyday language among the poor, ignorant, uncomprehending, unperceptive, and morally and socially blind demographics of the african american race. Typically, the persons using the word do not understand its true meaning.

nigger (or "nigga) is a word that is okay for black people to use on both white and black people, but also a word that white people can't say at all no matter what the circumstances.
Black man: You nigga!
White man: *cannot say anything so has to walk away*
White man: You nigger!
