Anime is Japanese animation that is basically little kids with huge swords (hehe) screaming, turning yellow, and little girls kicking huge guys through walls that are otherwise impenetrable (hehe again) and it is getting really suspicious to non-anime watchers like me because everyone seems hell-bent on denying its porn.

Deriving from the french word dessin animé, meaning cartoon. Japaese adopted this term and used it in their language. The proper english translation would be animation, or cartoon.
