the act of clapping because you feel bad for the person(s) you are clapping for. It starts out sounding like a slow clap.
Guy 1: did you go to the convention center to see the glue presentation?
Guy 2: Yeah, but there wasn't alot of people in the seats, and the ones who clapped gave a courtesy clap.
This sort of clapping is seen at churches, schools, business meetings, etc.

clapping monkey has 2 definitions
1) a small toy, usually with cymbols, which when winded up will clap the cymbols together
2) a metaphor for a woman's vagina which is extremely loose, and would clap like a toy clapping monkey
1) hey look at that new toy i got, it's a clapping monkey!
