The worlds most dangerous SPORT!!
Cheerleaders don't just cheer on other sports teams, they also compete against other teams. (watch California All-Stars and Top-Gun). Cheerleading is comprised of a cheer portion (in school cheer), jumps, stunts, tumbling, and a dance. If you thought all they did were wave around pom-poms on the sidelines then BOY were you an idiot. The average cheer team practices for 2-3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. And while football players or basketball players can leave the game if they get too tired or hurt, cheerleaders keep going! They only have 2:30 minutes to prove why they should win. They don't get to leave the floor. It's a deduction of points if they do!!!!! So yea cheer is a sport just like all others.
Person 1: "I can't believe you have cheerleading practice again today!"
Person 2: "Yeah I know but I love it and we have a competition tomorrow"
A physical team activity, used to entertain and motivate crowds for sports events. While cheerleaders, as well as some other, seemingly biased, definitions on this site will argue otherwise, it is typically not considered a sport due to its usual inability and impracticality as a competitive activity.
While it remains physically taxing, and requiring rehearsal, these are not the fundamentals to the definition of a sport, which is based on it's competitive nature. There are some cheerleading competitions in the world, though that makes up roughly 15% of the cheerleading world, while the rest remains focused on entertainment, motivation, and overall appearance while preforming.
The cheerleading between quarters of the game was beautifully choreographed!
Me: "Hey John, what sport are those girls doing?"
John: "That's not a sport idiot, that's cheerleading."

Cheer leading is a mostly competitive SPORT. For those who do not know, I am going to give a little background information. Chherleading was intended for men In the first place, that's right, MEN! But then girls got involved.
Sideline cheer- a cheerleader that cheers at sports events. Mostly what you think of when people say cheerleader, based on my experiences.
Competitive Cheerleaders- Know these are athletes. They do a combination of many sports. They lift girls who weigh as much as them over their heads. They throw them very high. But, unlike football players they always catch what they need to. Them need the aim to throw them in a way so they will land exactly where they need to. They trained all year long. There is no off season. Running is a daily activity for most to keep their stamina. They tumble like crazy. They do back handsprings, tucks, layouts, fulls, and other skills. They work their whole cheer career to get all their skills.
Instead of playing in playoffs, cheerleaders go against the best teams in the world at one competition.
Tell me cheerleading isn't a sport and I'll basket toss you to The moon.
a more sophisticated version of "that's what she said". Also used for a more broad range of sexual things.
Friend 1: "ugh, why won't this thing fit?!!?"

A term non-cheerleaders use to make fun of cheerleader culture
