Apparently someone who doesn't wish to be disappointed. But if they see the worst in everything, how can they be pleasently suprised? I don't get cynicism. My 'cynical' friend said she doesn't believe in love. But if you are that adamant something doesn't exist, then you'll never find it! Life is about romance and excitement, and it's all there if you keep your chin up and seek it. I know bad things happen, but they happen to everyone. When you allow yourself to dwell on them, this is when you become a cynic.

Someone who believes themselves to be incredibly intelligent and enlightened, when, in fact, they're just like anyone else. Usually lacks confidence in humans as a species to seem more edgy or intelligent.
Generally believe that no one has any passion for anything, or is willing to do something out of the kindness of their heart.
Not to be confused with a skeptic. Cynics usually just bitch and moan about a problem, as opposed to trying to find a solution.
Cynic: How can you enjoy life, man. Or that food? It's just some corporation trying to profit off your enjoyment.

To be a cynical asshole. Mainly thinking of everything as "shit" or "shitty" even if only a little bit of that thing was shown. It also means to insult anyone that disagrees with you. Even if the person was being very respectful about it.

A person that's abandoned his rose-colored glasses in favor of shit-colored ones. Are often just as delusional as idealists, but are usually considered enlightened and smart due to the new age nihilistic mentality of "bitterness = smartness", which makes it then fall into the viscious cycle of the "popular = right" mentality.
Not to be confused with a realist, who tries their hardest to look for the truth in any given situation regardless of bias, and whose views only resemble a cynic's in the eyes of an idealist.
Idealist: I think all people are good at heart and should always be given a second, third, fourth, and 167th chance, so I'm just going to leave my wallet out in the open to be stolen by everyone!
Cynic: LOL, everyone sucks, don't you know that? Regardless of ideals, you're only ever fighting for yourself, and there's no escape from that mentality, meaning everyone is always cheating everyone!
Functional Human Being: Guys...maybe people do shitty things for legitimate reasons, and they are to be neither trusted nor hated...?
