gatsby special

A move in a fight where one takes a copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby", and places it forcefully upside the opponents head.

"Ricky and Pete were fighting in the hall. When Ricky was about to pull a punch, Pete gave him the Gatsby Special."

Gatsby Post

A public social media post shared with the intention for one specific person to see. Often shared to either get a reaction/response, for stories/snaps to see if someone is lurking you, or testing if they muted/are ignoring you. Often occurring in situationships, bad break ups, ghosting and orbiting, unrequited love, or intense crushes based on a fantasy version of that person in your head.

(Put down the phone love, remove them as a follow and move on. You deserve better)

"stop checking who viewed your story" "I can't it's a Gatsby, I'm trying to see if my ex has viewed it or if he muted me"

"hey do you think is selfie is hot enough? I'm Gatsby Posting - shooting my shot by giving Tony a chance to fire emoji react o it but it has to be hot enough because if he only views it and doesn't react I will just DIE"

Pulling a Gatsby

1: The act of throwing a party or other elaborate social event with the distinct intention to attract a specific individual, usually a current or past romantic interest

2: Making a public social media post (Instagram, Snapchat story, Facebook, etc.) that is intended to be seen or grab the attention of one particular person, typically a current or past romantic interest. This is done usually in a vague manner as not to come off as overtly obvious, to maintain plausible deniability of the intention of the post especially with the non-intended audience. This is furthered when the original poster removes the post shortly after it was viewed by the intended recipient.

John was really pulling a Gatsby last week when he threw that party, he told me he only did it to try to get his ex to pull up so he could talk to her.

Great Gatsby

in additon to being a smelly book that i was recently assingned to read for english class this term can be used in many other facets of life. A great gatsby can also mean a huge steaming shit. as in if you need to be excused to shit and you were in a literature type environment then you may excuse yourself by simply saying "excuse me sir but i must depart for the water closet for i have a very great gatsby i must evacuate from my bowel". this is the most polite way to say "i need to take a fucking shit right fucking now you fucking fuck", which in most cases is utterly unacceptable.

"excuse me sir but i must depart for the water closet for i have a very great gatsby i must evacuate from my bowel"

or simply "i need to take a great gatsby"

The Great Gatsby

Possibly the most boring book on planet earth, and yet everyone wants you to read it.

I just got assigned to read "The Great Gatsby" for the fifth time!

Over-sized American fist.

Just give me the word and I will drop the Great Gatsby on that fool.

The Great Gatsby

A "classic" novel, The Great Gatsby is a book that English teachers find necessary to assign their students to read, even though the plot is stupid, and everyone ends up dead, alone, or unhappy. Nobody knows quite how this book became a classic, but the '70s movie remake of the book stars Law and Order's Sam Watterson.

While his students' brains melted out of their heads due to boredom, the English teacher droned on about the signifigance of Gatsby's car being yellow throughout the boring novel, The Great Gatsby.
