There is nothing bad or stupid about this term. It's not just a random term thrown in the YouTube comments. Many YouTube creators have embraced the term themselves, and ask their viewers to join the notifcation squad by pressing the bell icon.

Barraging someones Facebook wall with meaningless posts or comments so that the next time they log in they will have dozens of notifications. This can be very useful in annoying someone, but it takes a lot of time so you should get a life instead.
I have 167 notifications because of Jeremy's notification attack. Doesn't he have anything better to do?
