To be without any religious beliefs.
I am an atheist. I don't believe in heaven, hell, spirits, or souls. I think of after-death as the same state as pre-birth. I have no creed, no rituals, no voices telling me to do crazy shit. Atheism is not a religion. Religious people like to call it one because their narrow minds can't imagine living without at least ONE delusion. If atheism was a religion then disbelief in Zeus would be a mythology, and clear would be a color.

someone who does not believe in any gods. there are two kinds of atheists: strong atheists believe that the existence of gods are impossible, weak atheists (called agnostics) don't believe in god, but would start believing in him if he were proven true.
atheists usually come in two flavors: atheists who don't believe in god based on science, evolution, the big bang, humanism, skepticism and logic. the second group, unfortunately, are goths and vampires who don't believe in god because it's "alternative" and "anti-establishment".

1.) We are just normal people trying to live our lives.
2.) An atheist, contrary to seemingly popular belief, is a relatively normal person.
The atheist simply believes that there is/are no God/gods. Generally, atheists don't consider themselves to be smarter than all theists. You could say that atheism is taking the Christian practice of not recognizing such beliefs as Paganism one step further in not recognizing any religion. Atheists also tend to be more tolerant, and usually do not proselytize. Atheism is not a "belief," it is a lack of any belief and does not function as a religion would, in that the amount of atheists holds no significance.
The atheist is characterized as explaining that the Big Bang was the beginning of everything around us, but not able to explain how it came about. The Christian is characterized as then pointing out the necessicity of a God for such an act. This is where atheists differ from theists.
Atheists, for the most part, believe that the initial "ingredients" for today's universe have always been present, since it is impossible to create something from nothing. Yes, it is true that no one knows how this came to be, but then again, how can we start to understand something so incredibly complex in its nature when the necessary technology have only just come into exisitence in the last century? It will be an ongoing struggle in the following years to finally understand this phenomenon. We just don't insert God into the equation.
I am an atheist, in that I'll accept you for what you believe even if I don't quite agree with you.

According to Christians, all atheists are dumb, attack christians, and worship satan
In reality, not all atheists attack religious people, and they can be smart, and they don't choose to worship anything. Its more like the Christians attacking the atheists. they are normal people like you and me.
I have many atheist friends, and they respect what i believe
Atheist: I'm an atheist
Christian: you are stupid for believing in no god. you are gonna go to hell
Atheist: Its great that you're a christian, i just choose to be an atheist

Someone who is in no way religious, and rejects all religions.
Religious person: Oh my gosh, if you're an atheist, when you die; you're going to hell and get your head chopped off!

1. Someone who isn't afraid of the concept that there might not be a life after death.
2. Someone who does not bow down to a deity that constantly threatens to burn you alive for not believing in a certain way after said deity created you to believe in an alternate way.
3. Someone who, throughout history, has been the source of ridicule and offensiveness. However, when said atheist ridicules a christian, jew, or muslim they are labeled as offensive and blasphemous.
Christian #1: Hey look it's John the Atheist, let's go make fun of him.
Christian #2: Nah, let's convert him instead.

Someone who does not subscribe to any religions and does not believe in any gods or deities.
Strong atheism: Makes a claim that no gods exist.
Weak atheism: Does not make any claim about the existance of gods. Does not believe in gods because there is no evidence for them.
"Hey do you want to go to my church this Sunday?"
"No I am an atheist"
Do you believe in god?
Strong atheist: No, gods are just fairy tales created by man.
Weak atheist: No, there is no evidence for me to justify such a beleif with.
