A small “college town” made up of about 6 thousand students and 2-3 local bars, a Walmart, and a handful of local restaurants to choose from. Mostly country folk come from around the west Tennessee and middl Tennessee area to attend a cheap state school where they can complain that there’s nothing to do. Home to the greatest American passtime, rho omnicron tau. Aside from going to class, people’s lives here consist of smoking, a pike party, then a local bar.
To have extra special fun you may be inclined to drive to Union City, Jackson, or Memphis if the occasion is particularly special and you aren’t satisfied with the local accommodations. Dixieland Delight is the de facto school anthem and chapter song of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity (although it can be heard sung quite often at Pi Kappa Alphas parties, which for some reason are much more popular, where the local Martin pikes will sing the KA version where everyone chants, “KA, fuck pike”).
Bunch o KAs and AGRs and Pikes and sorority girls at the Slide and Rides Saloon: “...Make a little lovin (all night) on a Tennessee Martin Wednesday Night (wooo hooo) it’s my life (kaaa aaa) oh so right (FUUCK PIIIKE) my Dixielaaand Delight”
Girl 1: Martin TN is so dead there’s nothing to do here. What are we gonna do!?
Girl 2: ok let’s smoke this blunt then drive to union city and go to that new restaurant! Then after that we’ll go to Caddies.
Girl 1: Alright grab my juul and let’s go!
A town in extreme Northwest Tennessee. Population: -400. Twenty churches, a couple schools, and the ancient train depot. No Wal-Mart, no stoplights. The whole town comes out for the basketball games. Nothing really happens.. and when it does, the whole town knows about it in the State Gazette.
Bob: You ever been to Newbern, TN, Tom?
Tom: Never heard of it, Bob.

Small town right outside of Memphis, TN. Good schools but full of kids who will judge you if you have a freckle out of place. Close-knit community with events at the square and a rich history. Churches are packed on Sunday mornings and afterwards so is Kroger- the only thing there. Everyone basically knows everyone... and everything they do.
I would go out tonight but I'm afraid anyone from Arlington, TN will see me and personally make sure my parents find out.

Not perfect, not terrible. Home of the blues and Elvis Presley, not country music. Makes a mean BBQ. MLK was shot there. Having southern hospitality is necessary if you want to live there. Mud Island and Beale Street are main attractions. Only place that votes Democrat in TN. Dangerous in some areas, but if you stay away from there a very interesting place to be. Sits on a huge fault line. Disease wiped out most of the population a while ago, causing this city the start over. President Obama came to speak to a high school there in 2011.
Man, I went to Memphis, TN for vacation.
Yeah, how was was it?
Cool, not like the stereotype. Didn't get mugged or anything. Real artsy.
