aesop rock

An emcee best known for his symbolic raps, so much to the point that you might have to listen to his songs multiple times to understand his meaning. His CD's include "Labor Days", "Bazooka Tooth", "Float", and "Fast Cars, Danger, Fire, & Knives."

His topics cover such a wide range he's impossible to classify within rap itself; rather, he encompasses all stretches of hip-hop (save the crappy mainstream stuff, which shows the soul and poetic ability of a mentally challenged sea horse).

Rap rock

Rap rock is a hybrid of rap and rock music.

You can usually find traditional instruments of rock like guitars, bass guitars, and drums. Vocals can be sung, rapped or both. You may also see electronic sampling equipment, scratch pads and a DJ.

Now here's the part that some kiddies can't seem to get right: Rap rock is a broad definition for the hybrid genre. Nu metal and rapcore are just specific examples of rap rock.

Nu metal tends to be heavier, harder music with electronic elements, it leans more towards metal (hence the name). Bands such as Slipknot, KoRn, and Godsmack fall into this category.

Rapcore is more of a hybrid between rap and hardcore punk (instead of metal). Bands like House of Pain, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine and some of the works of KoRn are good examples of this genre.

Rap rock is a genre of music in which labels can get a bit messy because people often think of Rap rock as being another name for Nu metal or Rapcore.

Wuss Rock

Supposed "rock" music that is a contradition in and of itself. Music that is not about expressing the raw emotion or energy that is rock, but instead a kind of masterbatory limp sadness. Some of the best rock contains elements of sadness and helplessness, but honestly express their frustrations through modes of both melancholic somberness as well as ventilative "rocking out." Instead of regaining one's power through the "rock", "Wuss rock" does the very opposite and allows the crybaby whose girlfriend dumped him to continue crying into his perfume-scented pillow.

Good Charlotte, A Simple Plan, and generally songs about how she left you're so sad.

Rock Lobster

1) it's not quite a rock, it's not quite a lobster; it's a Rock Lobster

2) a creature often found at parties and under docks at the beach

Someone went under a dock, there they found a rock! It wasn't a rock! It was a Rock Lobster!
