something that many, many people would like to tell people
"Shut the hell up before I shove a cactus so far up your ass you'll have more pricks in your mouth than your father had on Pride's Month," said little Jimmy "Damn, little Jimmy, you need to chill out," said his bully, getting out the gasoline and matches."

Shut up a degree, or better known as SUD. Is a reply students tell there, parents or friends, when they ask the dreaded question, "what do you want to do?", "What career are you interested in?", "What kind of job do you want?". And you, as a young adolescent have no freaking clue. So you choose a random degree that sounds flashy, like, "Well I'm interested in getting my doctorate!", Or "Law sounds pretty nice!". When in reality your just naming out any degree to end the conversation. In the end, you are trying to get them to shut up and move to another topic.
Parent of 15-year-old: "Hey Jimmy, what kind of careers are you looking at?"
*Jimmy has no interest in this subject and just wants to continue to play Fortnite*
Jimmy: "well, honestly I'm really interested in making you proud and becoming a doctor, probably a surgeon!"
*Jimmy is a germophobe, and has a major fear of blood*
*Parents shut up, and Jimmy continues to play Fortnite*
A prime example of the use of a Shut Up Degree
A act of kindness to everyone around by letting them not hear your voice.
Person 1: (Quotes overused meme.)
Person 2: Ever heard of shutting the fuck up?
Typically used in discord reaction gifs, “Shut up bro, you’re weird” is the worst thing you could ever say to anyone. Best used against people yapping, aka oversharing.
Jimmy: “Ever heard of this game called Genshin Impa-“
Yvette: “Shut UP bro you’re WEIRD!!!!”
Another (retrograde) definition for educational institutions in the internet age, based on the fact that one has to shut up and listen, and prove or disprove things in the best possible way, as opposed to the internet where everyone can just shout out everything they want or even force themselves on random strangers.
Marked by a contrast of a true understanding of relativism and absolutism as opposed to the internet, where every relative, negligible thing or context is also given full absolute status.
Being too much on the internet makes me long for learn to shut (the fuck) up-institutions.
