A girl who listens to indie music, folk, or alternative. usually have long wavy or straight hair, and wears dresses and ballet flats from vintage stores. Indie girls might have a tons of owl,birds, or fish accesories. Usually are free with their mind and are really happy, and some but not all are artistic and into photography with Holga cameras, fish-eyes, or any type of polaroid. shops at Urban Outfitters, American Apperal, and other thrift stores you've never heard of.
Usually loves coffee or tea shops and plays the acoustic guitar every Live Mic Nights.
Thing 1: "Who's that girl, over there in the corner taking pictures?"
Thing 2: " which one?"
Thing 1: "you know that girl over there, the one in the vintage dress, and curly hair, with Toms."
Thing 2: "oh her, that's Fiona Apple. She's new she's a Indie Girl that just transfered here, she's really pretty."
Thing 1: " oh i never met her... but she seems cool."

An indie kid is so individual that they spend their time alone in their "individual" room, Listening to all their "individual Music" Through Their large oversized "individual Headphones" whilst looking up their "individual" clothing websites, whilst brushing their individually styled hair, which they got cut at that really "original" hairdressers behind their local individual bookstore.

a boy or girl who is partialy scene, but indie as well. They are really fun people, most often surrounded by other indie or scene kids. They have the "indie" attitude and some of the "scene" characteristics. The term Indie nowadays describes a current trend since around 2003 to consider "indie" a certain musical style rather than a stance towards commercialism.
This style is in most cases a mixture of wave, early punkrock, singer/songwriter music, electronica and above all whiney singing.
Ironically most bands among those "indie" bands are not part of an independent music scene, but as part of the musical mainstream rather dependent.

Occurences in real life that may appear to be out of indie flicks, frequently imagined by kids who spend too much time watching said movies and not enough time actually experiencing the adventures.
So I was listening to those lamecore kids talking about how their indie adventure last night was actually interesting compared to their actual lives.

Sub standard music + hype + fashion/fad = Indie
The music is repetitive, simple and stolen from the past.
The fans think it's the best music of all time, not knowing that the above is true.
And of course, there are tonnes of the fans because who in being 'individual', are all the same.
