Half Birthday

I know you all are hot n popular and you have so many full birthdays to celebrate, so why should you bother with a half-assed attempt at your half birthday? Because it's the Best. Day. Of. The. Year. Nobody cares about your half birthday (please make no exception for mine), so do you and do it up, but don't do too much because it's your half birthday. I'm eagerly awaiting an invite to your halfway decent celebration.

Emma's half birthday is coming up on Feb 1. At half past one, she's taking her friends hiking. At half past six, they're making half-assed pizzas. They'll finish off the festivities by getting half baked and playing half a game of something or other.

Half a dozen

The same as the number six, but used by people who think "six" is way too long.

I entered the "No usage of words thought to be way too long when actually short" club and there were half a dozen guys armed with bats looking at me.

Job/task/chore done without putting too much effort in it.

Those Americans did such a half-assed job on the previous example of the "half-assed" definition.

half cast

A wrong way to spell Half-Caste
It usually means mixed race of any sort. It's a racial term because "caste" means pure, so if someone calls a person of mixed race "half-caste" they are calling them half pure!
There is a poem called Half-Caste but the term doesnt originate from that poem.

"Half Cast girls are pretty with caramel skin, green eyes and s "curl" hair."

half-pipe

This is the origin of the word as far as I know. Two opposing ramps originally used for BMXers, but now used by snow boarders, roller bladers, skateboards and others. See also quarter pipe.

I heard they're building a new half-pipe down at the park this summer. Let's try it out but I'm not down with wearing all of the armor they are going to require.
