The amount of time a piece of random email will circulate the web and return to it's originator. Usually the longer lasting orbit, the better the impact for the originator because they know their spew is still circulating.

In the case of online dating websites or smartphone apps, cyber amnesia is when one person sends a message to someone they have previously spoken to under the premise that they have never spoken before. This often happens when someone changes a profile picture, username, or profile information. It can seem rather awkward or strange to the person who does remember the previous conversation(s).
User1: Hey
User2: Hi, I think we spoke before. I'm (name), remember?
User1: Um I'm not sure... I'm (name).
User2: Yeah.... I know...
User1: Oops, sorry. Just had a bit of cyber amnesia right there. Of course I remember you! (probably doesn't)
