Turning the Other Cheek

An expression derived from the Bible; meaning, to love your enemies while resisting them non-violently.

It says, I will not seek revenge because I am stronger than that. I will not respond with shame because I have dignity in Jesus; and not in hurting you.

Turning the other cheek is a powerful response, as it may require a great deal of self-control, which is painful to do in some cases (see example).

I Turn the Other Cheek when my enemies attack or insult me, but now that they're masquerading as me, causing confusion, division, and strife amongst my friends... turning the other cheek has become painfully hard and I feel deeply saddened.

turn a deaf ear

Refuse to hear or listen to something or somebody on purpose.

When you really try to get people to listen and they don't, they obviously want to turn a deaf ear.

A noticeable change in your behavior after you start dating someone. If you don't act as wild as you used to, you've "turnt down for bae".

Guy 1: Alright, so who's payin for strippers?
Guy 2: No strippers, guys. She, uh... you know.

Taos Turn Signal

A Taos Turn Signal occurs when someone turns on their turn signal either during or after the turn for which it regards. Although this action is common everywhere, it happens a lot in northern New Mexico, and has become somewhat of an inside joke among residents around New Mexico to call a late Turn Signal a Taos Turn Signal.

"Every time I find myself at this stop sign, no matter who it is, whoever is in front of me pulls a Taos Turn Signal."

When I whistled at his foin honey the other day, she totally turn and burned me. I told that Nazi face to get lost.

Turns the Mountains blue

A synonym for "that's cold" or giving someone "the cold shoulder."

Derived from the mountains on a Coors Light can that turn blue when they get cold.

"Dude, so i was like at Jason's party the other night and I ran into Max and he didn't say hi or even wave at me or anything."

"Man that turns the mountains blue, you guys have been best friends since kindergarten. Ain't Right"
