Used in a minority of countries to pretend the presence of a metric system, when in fact a non-metric system is used. Instead of using a designated smaller unit or real fraction, the bigger unit is used with a decimal point.
More often used in combination with the decimal system to describe numbers that are not even.
Geoff: “It’m 6 feet and 5 inches tall.”
Heidi: “uh… I only know the metric system.”
Geoff: “Oh, sorry. That’s 6 5/12 feet.”
Heidi: “That’s a real fraction, not metric, though.”
Geoff: “Oh right. I mean 6.42 feet.”
Heidi: “OK, that’s a decimal fraction alright, but still not metric 🤣”
Geoff: “Hey Siri, what’s 6 feet and 5 inches in metric?”
Siri: “6 feet, 5 inches is equivalent to about 1.96 meters.”
Check out my Dewey Decimal System... Its HUGE!!!

That kid was such a Pure Decimation last night at the party.
The problem is that he's a humorless dork.
Hym "Oh I would totally decimate the restaurant."
Chick "What you don't want to marry me?"
Hym "YOU don't want to decimate a restaurant full of people? We could set charges under the foundation... Go to the neighboring building... Hit the detonator together- It'd be like the end of Fight Club!"
Chick "What's Fight Club? (She hasn't seen Fight Club!?)"
Hym "YOU HAVEN'T SEEN FIGHT CLUB!? We need to go watch Fight Club immediately! (And that's how you get her into you apartment for a raw-doggin)"
A fucking dork "Aaakshually I'd by a fake ring because I wouldn't ever kill people! Wouldn't ever do that!"
Hym "DORK! NO MID-FIGHT CLUB SEX FOR YOU! BAD!"
