adj. Achieving a higher social status through association with a popular person. These people will never rise to the same social status as those they emulate. They are invited to "cool people" social functions, however, if they bring someone of the opposite sex with them they must be of the same social status. This is because a true popular person would never become involved with someone of lower status. This is primarily common in a high school setting because of the various social groups.
Dave: "Why did Bret bring Gina to the prom?"
Sam: "Gina is the quarterback's sister's best friend."
Dave: "But she's a big time softball thickie!"
Sam: "Doesn't matter, they're cool by association."
Dave: "Oh I get it. Bret is Blake, the quaterback's, friend from Little League. Gina has been Blake's sister's best friend since grade school. Neither of them are popular enough to come with Blake or Cindy so they are here with each other."
Sam: "Cruel, ain't it."

A person that has joined a company or work force to deliberately help the sales of the said company. Tasks, assignments, and jobs are given to the person throughout the day to complete as well as dealing with customer's and customer service.
The main goal for a sales associate is to leave a lasting impression towards the customer and let them feel like they are welcome back at anytime. If the customer is happy, chances are, the company will be as well.
Bob was hired as a sales associate at his job to help customer's shopping in their store.

The act of prematurely adding someone to your friend list on facebook or myspace; Often a result of using the auto-discovery function, whereby one inadvertantly adds several people from their gmail contacts list, only to later realize there were certain names included that were not intended to have become friended.
her: "omg, I totally blew it and friended my new boss on facebook. Now she'll know I'm multislacking all day at work."
him: "Sounds like premature association. Wait a few weeks then defriend her...maybe she won't notice."
