The Neville Effect

The phenomenon whereby an awkward, unattractive, often pudgy-looking child grows up to be unbelievably hot.

The first observed case of The Neville Effect, and therefore the boy after whom the effect is named, Neville Longbottom (from the extraordinary Harry Potter series) is the typical example of this phenomenon. He looks a bit awkward and chubby when he is younger, but in a miraculous series of events, grows up to become a badass sex god. Other notable cases include Josh from Drake and Josh.

Seesaw Effect

In Danganronpa V3, Korekiyo used a "seesaw effect" by jumping on a loose floorboard in order to impale a hidden under a cage Tenko Chabashira on a knife. He did so despite having already killed Angie Yonaga whose murder lacked enough evidence to point to the culprit. As a result, the term "seesaw effect" was brought up numerous times during the third Class Trial.

Astolfo Effect

A phenomenon where a historical (or otherwise original) figure gets overshadowed by its version from modern culture. Named after Astolfo, who is originally a character from a French legend, but most people nowadays know him from the Fate anime franchise as the guy who looks like a girl, also referred to as trap or femboy.
Most prominent if you try to look their images up. There are even more famous examples, such as the infamous dictator Nero Claudius.

A: I tried to search for some pictures of this guy for my school presentation but all I could find was this anime girl for some reason.
B: Yeah, that's the Astolfo effect for you.

The Streisand Effect

A social phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of further publicizing that information, often via the Internet.
