Dick-speare genre

the narrative genre which focuses on the plight of the urban disadvantaged (seen in Charles Dickens tales) mixed with intricately tragic plots and complex human characters (trademarked by William Shakespeare).

HBO's "The Wire" is the epitome of the Dick-speare genre, focusing on the plight of youths in Baltimore, and providing plot twists and tragic heroes which would move even the Bard.

Posi Music Genre

From Wikipedia:
Posi music (pronounced pah-zee) has been around since the 1940s, though only recently has a definitive label been applied to music in this genre. Short for Positive Music, Posi Music is categorized by its intention to have a positive effect on the listener. Musicians who write and perform Posi Music profess a desire for their music to unite and inspire their audience and make them feel better. One of the earliest 100% Positive Songs was Accentuate The Positive written by Johnny Mercer and made famous by Bing Crosby. That same song also defined the concept that there is indeed polarity between being Positive or being Negative, specifically noting there is also no Neutral as in "no more Mr. In-Between".

This concept has been expanded by groups promoting the education of Posi Music, such as the Positive Music Association, emPower Music and Arts and the Positive Music Imperative. This concept of Positive Music and Negative music has also been identified in the book called A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle

Song Examples from the Posi Music Genre:

"We Shall Overcome" by Pete Seger

emo (sub-genre)

A genre of music that can be traced back to the Washington DC punk scene in the mid 80s. Many bands who do not claim to be influenced by this genre are pegged as emo because of its vague definition and negative stereotype. (see emo or emo (adjective)) Modern day bands that are tagged as emo (MCR Fall out Boy etc) deny relation to the original genre, but in the opinion of many have similar music/ play the stereotype well.

Bands form the original emo (sub-genre)include "The Promise Ring" "Rites Of Spring" "Boy's Life"

Bon chic, bon genre

French for "good style, good attitude." Max Azria's popular women's clothing line BCBG, founded in 1989, is an acronym of this phrase. Also the name of former British indie rock band Campag Velocet's debut album, released in 1999.

"I think Campag Velocet's debut album Bon Chic, Bon Genre is much better than their follow-up album It's Beyond Our Control."

Genre Slag

Someone who claims every genre of everything is their absolute favourite over everything else, obsessing over it, while secretly having several other genres on the side.

Pete, the genre slag, claimed Nirvana were his favourite band. 10 minutes later, he revealed The Beatles were the best band of all time. Before declaring himself a huge fan of The Spice Girls. Then that he'd always been into drum and bass.
