Identity Imposition

Imposing a better or worse identity on an individual than his or her present one by treating that individual in certain ways in order to manipulate him, her, or it.

My mother is an identity imposition master. When we're on good terms she treats me as if were a celebrity and a genius, but sometimes if she feels she's losing an argument she might speak to me as if I were a fool.

Identity Check

An Identity Check is the first thing two people do when they see one another, even if they never speak to one another, is evaluate who the other person is and how powerful that person is. The second thing every person who interacts with another person in any way does is impose an identity on the other person, and they do that by telling the other person who they think that person is by the way they treat them.

When the identity another person indirectly, subtly, but firmly imposes on another person matches the identity that person has of themselves, or is close to the one they are working to attain, the person will continue interacting with the person who is imposing that desired identity on them. When the identity being imposed is different than the one that person has of themselves or is working to attain, that person will stop interacting with the person or the people who attempt to impose an identity the person does not agree with or like.

Sharon and Jane silently conducted an Identity Check on one another. As soon as they were introduced to one another by Bob McDonald, they continued evaluating one another and soon started to impose an identity on one another. Jane agreed with the identity Sharon was imposing on her, but Sharon did not like the identity Jane was imposing on her and walked away.

Identity Dysphoria

An umbrella term for dysphoria caused by identity incongruence including gender dysphoria, species dysphoria (referring to what is experienced by Therians and Otherkin), and age dysphoria. Contrary to popular belief, identity dysphoria is not exclusive to people with identities that differ from what they were born as or physically are. In theory, anyone can have identity dysphoria if they experience identity incongruence. For instance, if a cis man has gynomastia, he may experience gender dysphoria. However, this is much more rare and the majority of people who experience gender dysphoria are transgender, intersex, and/or double-binary.

My body does not reflect my identity and it causes me identity dysphoria.

Sports Identity

A person who is not sure exactly what team they should root for. Typically a β€œbandwagon fan” or someone who likes a team for no apparent reason that it seems they should. Also yet a person who is a die hard college sports fan but never has been to college himself.

Steve is from New York. He likes the college football team Florida Gators yet has never been Gainesville, FL. He also likes Kentucky State college basketball but lives in Florida now. He also follows the Pittsburgh Steelers since they have had a good track record of winning games recently. Its seems Steve does not know his own Sports Identity.
