Lisa effect

Lisa Effect (n). The positive change in someone's feelings from being bummed-out to being happy, because of a visit from or to someone named "Lisa". Recurring plot point in Scrubs (Season 2 episode 10, Lisa the "gift shop girl"), Cheers (Coach's daughter, 1982, (Season 1, Episode 5)), and Frasier (Lisa Maxwell, season one, the first 'Daphne'). All three examples are NBC products, maybe a coincidence. And don't forget Lisa Kudrow from "Friends". She is a go-to person when people are upset. Also NBC.

I felt like crap when I got up this morning, but got the Lisa effect at lunchtime, now I'm good to go.

Treadmill effect

When a blazed person walks outdoors and it appears that buildings are coming towards him/her rather than him/her walking towards the buildings. This gives the illusion that the earth is a huge treadmill and the person is not moving from where he/her is walking.

Person A - God damn! it seems like the movie theaters is coming towards me even tho I'm walking towards it.

Person B - It's the treadmill effect.

facebook effect

The situation where an individual displays pictures of themselves online that do not reflect their actual appearance.

This often occurs when the individual manages what pictures others can see.

"Wow, that girl is hot!" (looking at pictures online)

"WTF, you're hideous?! (meeting face-to-face)

Clearly, this is an example of the facebook effect.

Olya: "What are you talking about? I have heaps of friends! Being home alone every Saturday night gives me a chance to catch up with them on facebook."

Charles: "OMG, you are clearly suffering from the facebo effect".

Chuck: Dude, It's called the Butterball Effect, all those empty fat calories have wreaked their damnable havoc on her once fine physique.

Tebow Effect

To have your team win with out any explanation except for one average person who is always there when you win.

The Broncos went 1-4 in the first 5 games with one quarterback but then went 5-1 in the next 6 games with Tim Tebow which proves the Tebow effect.
