Rap

I have the REAL definition of rap (I also want to clear some things up to)

See back in the day when their was real hip-hop their was a Mc who RAPPED, and it was poetry that takes skill. But today the thing we call RAP is much different than HIP-HOP. None of these Rappers that we have today can be called Mcs except for like five dudes. I hate when i see people in the comments section of a vid, say "oh he's a dope MC". No he's a decent ass rapper so yeah.

EX of Hip-hop: tupac, rakim, wutang, big pun, big l,songs like 93 till infinity ish like that

Ex or rap: chief keef, lil wayne, rick ross, nicki manaj
(they all sound the same, some way or another)

Rap

A form of rhyming over a synthesized beat. Almost any rap song is about one of four things: 1, killing. 2, sex. 3, drugs. 4, a nonsense word repeated over and over. Though good in the beginning, in the past few years, almost any white/latin male thinks he'll be the hottest thing since Snoop.

A good example of Rap today is as follows.
"I goes to the Magic,
Damn, aint that his truck?
I guess you with him,
Screw him,
If it wasn't for you, I'd have to do him"
You're the one - Gorilla Black ft. Mario Winans
Anyone wanna explain this to me? If rap went back to how it was, not people complaining about how hard life is while wearing 500 dollars woth of gold and platinum around their necks, people wouldn't hate rap so much.

Yo, I shot my grandma! That bitch was old!
-MC Whitey Cracka-face.

Mumble Rap

First of all, contrary to what mumble rappers and hardcore fans of mumble rappers would like you to believe, mumble rap is real. And in most cases, it's simply not okay. You know you are listening to Mumble rap if you run into the following:

1. You cannot understand what the fuck they are saying.
2. You can to some degree but are still concerned about their intelligence and/or speech capabilities.
3. You cannot understand what the fuck they are saying.
4. It's impossible to sing along short of humming or speaking complete gibberish yourself.
5. You cannot understand what the fuck they are saying.

When the 5 main tell-tell signs above are stressed, they are not referring to a couple of words you may have had trouble hearing correctly and mistake for something else. You cannot, and I mean CANNOT understand the entirety of the song WITHOUT looking up the lyrics. You always have to look up the lyrics of any song, but with most NORMAL songs, you have guesses of what is actually said in full. With Mumble Rap, you have ABSOLUTELY, NO FUCKING IDEA, AT ALL, of what is actually said. Even if you have special linguist powers and do guess some of the words, you'll most likely be surprised to find out there are 4 or 5 words in the hook that you did not even pick up on, let alone make sense out of. And you'll likely find even more during verses. In fact, the chances of you having a clue of what is said at all during a verse are very very very low. That's how bad Mumble Rap is.

Examples of Mumble Rappers include: Young Thug(Worst case of this motherfucker is the song "Lifestyle"), Desiigner(Goddammit, he is the epitome example of everything written above), Future(To a lesser, but still concerning degree than the two aforementioned)

Other rappers who are not as bad as the three above(Usually, that is) but still have their fair share of problems include: Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, and Quavo from Migos(And many many more)

Emo Rap

A fusion genre combining the sounds of parent music genres, Emo Music and Hip Hop.

Popularized in the mid-2010's with acts such as Lil Peep, Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd, nothing, nowhere and XXXTentacion. The music platform known as SoundCloud built this genre up from what it was prior.

In the mid-2000's, the sound of Emo Rap was first inspired from projects from prominent hip-hop artists such as Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Drake on projects '808's and Heartbreaks', 'Man on the Moon: The End of Day' and 'So Far Gone' respectively. The sounds implemented in this genre of music refer back to conscious rap and indie rock instrumentals with a distorted trap vibe. Pop Punk and Emo songs are heavily sampled. Bands such as Brand New and Underoath are usually regularly sampled.

Lil Peep, who tragically died on November 15th, 2017 from a drug overdose was recognized as the pioneer or 'Kurt Cobain' of Emo-Rap which refers to the topics he discussed in his songs. Usually, being suicidal thoughts, depression, breakups and drug usage. Which, also are the prominent discussions in this genre as a whole.

Another prominent artist of the genre, XXXTentacion, was murdered on June 18th, 2018. He was considered also to be one of the main figureheads of the genre as a whole. As he brought rage, depression and overall unique sounds to his music that were influenced by rock, punk and hardcore music.

Emo rap is the new hip buzzworthy term to describe a movement of SoundCloud rappers who mix trap beats, indie rock samples, and open sentimentality. Emo bands from the โ€™90s through the aughts seem to be a touchstone for these MCs because of their diary-like emotional content and knack for melody.
