A term originally coined by the Riot Grrrl movement of the early 1990s, then hijacked by British pop group the Spice Girls, who famously used it as their motto, accompanied by raucous shouts and waved peace signs. It is thus associated with cod-feminism and the irritating shouts of ten-year-old girls.

1: (sports, general) A massive attack, moving many players up on the opposing team's court.
2: (icehockey) When one team is playing with a player more than the opposing team because of penalties.
3: (politics) The threat or use of power (military, economical etc) as coercion.
4: (rpg) Hoarding xp and money. Often to the extend of ruining the gameplay for other players.

Power shifting is a technique used by drag racers in order to achieve faster acceleration and lower elapsed times during a race. To power shift a manual transmission vehicle, after inital launch and upon reaching the engine's power curve peak, you must keep the accelerator fully depressed, apply the clutch, upshift, and release the clutch. This must be done quickly and smoothly in order not to damage the engine by over revving during the shift. Power shifting is used only for upshifting, never for downshifting.
If you power shift while drag racing, you'll achieve a shorter quarter mile elapsed time.
