doing harakiri

the act of committing suicide

son: why are so many people nowadays doing harakiri?

father: Adrian: doing harakiri is not a joke; as to why people do such a rash and irrational act, G-d only knows. It's probably because they have reached a point in their existence where they can't even find G-d and his eternal mercy in a religious setting and they don't understand that there's always hope for a recovery in the secular setting no matter how hopeless the situation may seem be. you can always pull the chestnuts out of the fire

doing harakiri

the act of committing suicide (but not as the name suggests, harakiri, the actual Japanese ritual of suicide by disembowelment. often used historically by the samurai).

son: why are so many people nowadays doing harakiri?

father: Adrian, G-d only knows why people commit such an irrational act. It's probably because they've reached a point in their existence where they can't find life's meaning even in a religious setting. There's always hope even in the secular setting, by getting a social worker or psychotherapist. You can always pull the roasted chestnuts out of the fire no matter how dire the situation seems to be.

son: so, what do we tell a person about to commit suicide? "don't burn your bridges"? and that they should stop rejecting the help that they deserve?

father: yup.

doing harakiri

the act of committing suicide ( using any method except the real harakiri, the actual Japanese ritual form of suicide by disembowelment often used historically by the samurai).

son: why are so many people nowadays doing harakiri?

father: Adrian, why people commit such an irrational act is probably because they've reached a point in their existence where they can't find life's meaning even in a religious setting. There's always secular hope, by getting a social worker or something. You can always pull the roasted chestnuts out of the fire no matter the dire situation. don't burn your bridges is the sole piece of advice I would give these people.

son: why are so many people nowadays doing harakiri?

father: Adrian, why people commit such acts is probably because they can't find life's meaning in any setting, religious or secular. However, you can always pull the roasted chestnuts out of the fire. Don't burn your bridges is the other piece of advice I would give them.
