Mrs. Bridges

Mrs. Bridges is a teacher in N.C. I will never forget. She really loved us all and made learning a lot of fun. I remember wanting to go to school even when I got sick. I don't know if she is still teaching but I hope so.

on the bus to Hebden bridge

phr. Descriptive of a lesbian woman; especially a woman who has recently started to exhibit sapphic tendencies.

Named after the UK's official lesbian capital-- Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire.

"You know that woman you were chatting up last night? The one wearing chunky boots, a pinstripe suit and with the crew-cut? You'll have no lucky with her mate, she's on the bus to Hebden Bridge"

Suspension Bridge Effect

The suspension bridge effect happens when a person crosses a suspension bridge and he sees someone of the opposite sex. his fear of falling down causes his heart to pound. He then mistakes that for the heart-pounding feeling felt when falling in love with the opposite sex.

In short, when the other party is in a state of fright and he see you, he will fall in love with you.

Psychologically it would work, but probably not in practice

Joyce: Scooter, I love you!

Scooter: Stop shaking the bridge

Joyce: be careful, your gonna fall. your gonna fall!

burn one's bridges

To leave all of your friends and acquaintances behind; to cause permanent damage in your relationships.

The idea is that there people who form bridges to your past. If you forget or insult them, you have burned all of your bridges to the past, and can never go back.

1) Even though you're quitting your job tomorrow, try not to burn one's bridges. You never know when you'll need help in the future.

2) There may be a conflict of interest if I work with both companies. Of course I don't want to burn one's bridges, so I should choose one company and let the other know that I can't work with them.

Oak Street Bridge

A bridge over the Fraser River that connects the city of Richmond with Vancouver. Colloquially known as the quickest way to get to China from Canada.

Why take a plane to China, when you can just cross the Oak Street Bridge?

T. I. Bridge

Thousand Islands Bridge. Extremely cool to sail under in a boat, but I wouldn't advise walking across it if you're acrophobic!

You can get to Gananoque from the U.S. mainland via the T.I. Bridge.
