when you are attacked by an undeniable fact
A: How would you buy a car? You have no savings and you don't even have a job. I don't think you can afford gas either.
B: That's too much Fact Violence..
The intelligence services invented a particular statement to dismiss and or ridicule information which was to close to the truth for them. "Conspiracy theory" is still frequently used today to block any meaningful conversation.
Today I decided to create a counter to that statement with similar elements in it.
I have come across this "strategy fact-ory" in my news feed.
That weird random bit of information that a Dad will suddenly drop on you after you ask a fairly simple question. And is almost always 100% correct.
Me: why do international pilots need to know English?
Dad: It is actually called Aviation English. It was implemented because of a really bad plane crash back in the 1970's caused partly by language issues.
Me: *Googles it, sees hes correct* that's a Dad Fact!
An unfounded but logical piece of information that may or may not be a fact, often wielded by dads at a BBQ.
Trav: "Did you know that if you pour Sprite on your balls you can taste it?"
Mike: "Sounds like a dad fact"
A useless fact that someone really wants you to know. Usually said when the fact has little to nothing to do with a conversation or in a large gathering of people. Seen by the fact giver as useful information or a party trick to show off smarts.
The term was originally coined by Joinen (An Australian Youtuber) during a twitch live stream. The stream has since been uploaded to his channel under the name WooHoo's MESSED UP "Girl Types"
In the video, Joinen reacts to a girl chasing after another girl, while girl 1 spouts useless facts to girl 2.
Boy: I'm thinking about getting the new iPhone
Girl: Did you know Martin Cooper made the first cell phone call
Boy: No one cares about your Crocodile Fact(s)
Information or statistics that have not been researched and are told convincingly to seem believable. Similar to "Fake News", but it originates from the saying "as a matter of fact" which was short handed to "Matt Facts"
"Most people order a half cow or pig throughout the year."
"Those are definitely Matt Facts."
One of the dumbest things to come out of Sen. J.D. Vance's mouth during the 2024 Vice Presidential Debate against Gov. Tim Walz.
"The rules were you guys weren't going to fact check." -J.D. Vance
