I work for Abercrombie, its defined as "Casual Luxury" Its made to be comfortable while looking really good. Its also more of a lifestyle more than just a fashion fad.When you think Abercrombie you think preppy, but mostly its "All American" and thats what the classic style is. A lot of clothing is vintage, closer fit, made for leaner bodies (its classic in back in the day obesity was lower),athletic wear is sold, flip flops etc. The people who work at A&F are usually models, this is because A&F dosn't spend money on external marketing (commercials, billboards)so Brand Reps wear the clothes to enhance the store experience. The guys have to be clean shaving, no earrings, no jewerly, no shown tattoos. The girls can have small diamond studs, minimal to no make up, no jewerly, no shown tattoos,no nail polish.We have to emmulate the models that people see and have to look natural and all american. Dress code is A&F clothes or clothes that look similar, with flip flops on the floor or converses in the stock room. Each season the employees have a selected color they must wear. Loud music plays and cologne is spritz throughout the store. Everything is perfect to the T, most stores are maintained very well.Its what made the store so recognizable and different
As for the lifestyle, yes the clothing are up in price but thats why its "Casual Luxury" its comfortable,have varied styles, and the quality is much better than people think. The seams and stitching are detailed on everything. People of different economic standards shop here. Mostly middle to upper middle class customers come here.We target the 18-23 year old crowd. Because of ignorance about the store and exaggerations that is heard causes people who may be a bit bigger in size to not shop here, but the largest size like most stores is a XXL. As I said its a lifestyle to each its own, people who are attractive and live in the suburbs like the comfort level.Urban people may feel they have a piece of something that is high in standard. We try to maintain a sexy image that gravitate towards different people.
As employees we are the ones who have to smile to the visitors and give THEM the feeling that "They have arrived". Im a black guy who is attractive and came from a well off family who happen to work for A&F, yes the work force here is diverse. But in small rural towns this may not be the case. There is many things people don't understand about the store until they are really on the inside of it ,and mostly work with them. There are plenty of things you would than learn that you haven't known before. Most of the kids who work here are either A.Models/Actors who need a job with a flexible schedule B.College students who wants a extra source of income while working with flexible hours C.Love the clothing and want the discount D. Its just a fun store to work in E.Bored because they have wealthy parents and need something to do.This store have one of the most organized teams in any retail, the things that happen behind the scenes is what makes the store so reliable. There is many positions that keeps it running and perfect.
Brand Rep:"Have you tried our jeans? Our jeans have the coolest/sexiest fit"
Customer:Are you on commission?
Brand Rep:No, why you ask?
Customer:Because everyone here is really nice
Brand Rep:Thats just Abercrombie and Fitch and thats what makes the store what it is.
Customer:I thought a bunch of spoiled rich kids with snotty attitudes are the only ones who work here.
Brand Rep:Oh they do but they only act like that off the clock

Abercrombie and Fitch are for people who take pride in their appearance because we all know first impressions are important. Abercrombie guys always get the hott girls so its pretty easy to see why they wear it. Dont't Hate, Congradulate

Clothing that is not made of any higher quality than any other line of clothes that is sold for what you'd usually pay for a small boat.
I wish A & F didn't over price their clothes because it's the only store where I can find clothes to fit me, as I am a tiny Italian woman.

A tight-shirt ripped-jeans clothing line that endorses long walks on the beach and shitty perfume. In other words, the Common Faggot's dream store. Also see Hollister and American Eagle.

An extremely overpriced clothing store for suburban adolescents between the ages of 11-19 (although the age is getting younger, I swear that in a few years, 4th graders will be getting boob jobs, allowing them to have the body of Lindsay Lohan). This store, contrary to popular belief, not only appeals to twiggy girls and preppy guys who think they're "ghetto" even though they buy clothes from Abercrombie and Fitch, but also rather obese girls as well. It's surprising that they even fit into the clothes, when as is, they rip and tear on anorexics, but on the more pudgy girls they somehow find a way, usually with their stomachs hanging out the front of their see-through t-shirts all the way down to the low seams of their hip-huggers. In addition, these girls are also the ones who insult girls who have a brain in their head that they need to buy these poor-quality, overpriced, thrift store-esque clothes with a blinding Abercrombie label repeatedly shoved on wherever there is a square inch of pure, easily ripped fabric. I guess, at Abercrombie and Fitch, the less fabric there is, the higher the price tag!!
#1-Anorexic: Oh my gawd, this mini is soooo cute! And, it's only $99.99! I totally have to buy it now before anyone else does, so I can make fun of anyone who buys it after me! I mean, what is the point of wearing a mini unless you can see my thong through all these holes in it? What size am I, an 18 now? Gawd, I wish I fit into a size two, those girls are so hot! You can see their ribs!
#2-Pudgy Girl- I guess they don't have my size here. Wait! If I hold my breath I can fit in a size 2! My stomach only hangs out when i exhale! And this jeans are cute, too! If I rip my jeans because my butt is too big, I can say the rip in the crack is because the denim is so, um..., fragile...

Abercrombie & Fitch is an AMAZING store!! I really don't understand everyone's little stupid comments about how expensive or useless it is. If you really think about it, there are a million other stores that are WAY MORE EXPENSIVE than A&F. And all that talk about Abercrombie being racist is a lie, because I shop there almost every weekend and I've seen all types of different skin colored people. I myself am a hispanic girl and I love to wear Abercrombie and I know black, asian or any other non-white girls that wear it too.
Also, all that talk about the only models on the posters in the store being white is pathetic. You guys have to understand that the MAJORITY of customers that shop at Abercrombie & Fitch ARE WHITE!! So of course their going to have white models on their posters, to attract their majority shoppers. That's like going to an ECKO or a BABY PHAT store and expecting to see white models on their ads rather than blacks!! Come on, use common sense.
All I know is that Abercrombie & Fitch is a terrific store, with good prices for their clothing. Saying that a pair of jeans cost 200 dollars is an outrage!! STOP STRECHING THE TRUTH!! Besides they have beautiful stylish clothes, that most of the people that criticize it would never be able to wear =
