upstate hand shake

β€œOne finger in the throat and one in the rectum......"

When a neurological oriented member of a trauma 1 team checks gag reflex and performs a digital rectal examination simultaneously. This is usually performed on trauma patients to determine extent of abdominal, pelvic, and neurological injuries. New evidence shows the procedure is unnecessary but it's still performed and some have become fond of it's diagnostic powers.

"Espsoito et al (2005) found that none of 512 patients would have had a significant injury missed had the DRE been omitted." (Life In The Fast Lane)."Adding insult to injury?"

I just tried the ole Upstate Hand shake on the patient in room 2. Nurse, we're gonna need some restraints and sedation because they're fighting us for some reason!

Upstate New York

Seriousley... Why are all upstate people considered hicks? I do not know. I live in a town called Lake George which is one of the most heavily toured areas in the state. As well as one of the richest in the state. If upstate New York was a bunch of hicks do you really think that Derek Jeter, or DMX, or Jay-Z would buy lake front mansions? I dont think so. Get a grip.

Upstate New York houses some of the richest people in the country, as well as holds some of the most beautiful scenery and lakes in the country.

Upstate New York

Any place in New York that is not Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, Kings, Richmond, New York, Bronx, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, Sullivan, or Greene Counties.

This is an equal, or far better, section of New York State. It was Upstate that saved the Union, when we kept the City and Long Island from seceding and joining the Confederacy. Upstate bleeds money into NYC, and away from itself. NYC cannot sustain itself, and so relies on Upstate for further support.

Upstater: I'm from Upstate New York
Downstater Elitist: Oh, you must be a hick.
Upstater: Nice assumption, idiot. Apparently you have never been in wine country, or seen the Finger Lakes. You've never been to Rochester or Buffalo. Clearly you think you're better because you take our money and assume you're better because you've never been outside your own little bubble.
Downstater (thinking): Shit, I've been pwned.

upstate new york

Anything that's not NYC or Long Island. You are retarded if you think Long Island is Upstate, Queens is on long island so how would one of the boroughs be upstate? Exactly. Anyway Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester are all cities upstate.

NYC is great but Upstate New York is a whole nother side to the state.

upstate new york

The part of New York state whose inhabitants (like myself, who has NEVER lived outside upstate New York) are generally dismissed by people from downstate New York as "not real New Yorkers." In New York's 2000 U. S. Senate Election Republican Rick Lazio was only polite upstate because he needed us but, to her credit, Hillary Rodham Clinton made an effort to learn as much as possible about upstate.

Sure, there's no theatre, only the Buffalo Bills among sports teams, and no opera, but it was UPSTATE that hosted the Winter Olympics twice and downstate that hasn't hosted either type of the Olympics once.

The stereotype of New Yorkers (downstate AND UPSTATE) being rude also has varying degrees of truth among almost all 19,000,000 people in the state, so upstate New Yorkers shouldn't get self-congratulatory about politeness either.

I've lived in upstate New York, there are a handful of rude people there too, but it's more conducive to vehicle ownership.

living on a farm upstate

Dead; no longer among the realm of the living.

Guy: Hey, did you hear about Bill?

Girl: No, what happened?

Guy: He's now living on a farm upstate.

Girl: Oh no, when is the funeral?
