A massive chain of retail clothing stores situated in almost every shopping mall in the US. Markets mainly to the mainstream teenage demographic. Clothing is of poor quality and overpriced. American Eagle (AE) is known for massively marking down certain items, making them look like 'steals' (when in fact, considering the quality, the deal is just 'reasonable').

I just bought a $40.00 pair of jeans from American Eagle for $20.00. Seemed like a good deal, but they fell apart two weeks later. I think I'm going to shop at the GAP from now on.

Anyone associated with this store is either a) stuck up asshole b) girls who follow trends too easily c) a combination of both, and whom also can't think for themselves.
Prep may mean something else, but we needed a word to group all of those kinds of people. Prep worked.

a preppy store that sells casual preppy clothes at a decent price. it is good clothing that is way better and cheaper than abercrombie and hollister.you can buy a very nice looking shirt for 15 bux where at abercrumbie it is not good looking at all and cost 50 bux on sale.
hay i bought a new and good looking shirt from american eagle for only 12 bux and i found the same one but 5 times uglier at abercrombie for 40 dollars

American Eagle is a store that makes you pay to wear their name on your chest and buttox. Preps and bitches seem to like this place. See abercromnie
