oppo-emoticon

the act of responding with the opposite emoticon rather than the appropriate emoticon when commenting on a status update, usually on Facebook but not limited to. This oddity invariably leads to confusion for everyone yet is hilarious to only the oppo-emoticoner and a select few of totally awesome somewhat twisted sharp-minded people that appreciate it. The hilarity varies inversely with the severity or emotional tone of the status.

ex.
girl1: "Craig has totally gone overboard with the oppo-emoticoning"
girl2: "whaaa-Shut up!!"
girl1: "Ohhh yea! He oppo-emoticoned the Sh*t out of my profile the other day. It wouldn't be that bad but now i have to explain to my mom why one of my friends is happy grandma has cancer!"

ex.
Girl1: "I don't get it. Why is Dave all smiley-face about me failing my class and not being able to get my internship? What did i ever do to him?"
girl2: "Girl you didn't know? Dave oppo-emoticons. He oppo_emoticons everybody. The guy has no regard for human emotion when it comes to his oppo-emoticoning. Especially when someones dreams or fears are involved.
It used to bother me but now i think it's cute, Dave's funny....but in your case sooooo wrong"

emo emoticon

Similar in structure to the Pirate emoticon "P )" the emo emoticon replaces the colon and semi-colon in a standard emoticon with a capital "F" representing the cliche half covered face of an emo kid.

Since emo kids generally don't express many emotions other than despair, bleakness, rage, or indifference their emoticons therefore lack variety.

Since emo kids are never happy the happiest form of an emo emoticon is as follows:

F |

The standard indifferent form is: F /

Finally, the following characters should not be used when typing an emo emoticon since it would be contradictory to their nature: "P" ")" "" "D" "O"

Guy 1 - Hey dude what's up?
Guy 2 - nm F /
Guy 1 - huh? what's up?
Guy 2 - I just broke up with my girlfriend so I'm using emo emoticons and listening to "Fix You" by Coldplay on repeat
Guy 1 - ah dammit not this again, well you should come to this party tonight...there will be alot of cute girls there
Guy 2 - F /
Guy 1 - Fine be that way...you suck all the fun out when you're like this

anime emoticons

The ridiculous internet "language" often found in chatrooms and on messageboards that confuse more people than ever due to its idiocy. Examples are ^_^ and ^_ ~ and o.0 and even more complex emoticons than that. Usually the same geeks that tAlk LiKe tHis and are into role playing and sci-fi garbage (Star Trek, Farscape, etc.) and fantasy crap (Lords of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc). Also, they seem to be socially inept creatures who feel the need to fit in somehow so they adopt this geek-speak nonsense.

I love anime emoticons <<*>> ^_^ ^_~ o.0 0.0 oooh I'm having so much fun! Must run along now, Farscape is gonna be on tv!!
