The state has two main football teams that matter to nobody outside of the state. These are not real football teams, they are college ones. NFL teams are generally reserved for states with actual cities. Ironically, many Auburn/Alabama fans did not graduate high school, and view college students as "queers".
The native dress is Overalls (no shirt) for men, and oversized faded Looney Tunes t-shirts and purple sweatpants for women. The native cuisine is Skoal and Makers Mark.
They typically love to talk about "Southern Hospitality", and it is generally true... unless you are gay or not Baptist. In this case, you're better off going to more hospitable places like Beirut or Haiti.
Politically, the state is very conservative. It went for McCain/Palin in 2008, because Jesus was not on the ballot that year. They approved a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and civil unions in 2006 with 81 percent of the population voting to preserve "traditional marriage" in the state. Traditional marriage in Alabama is defined as a union between one man and his sister/pretty female cousin.
The fertility rate in Alabama is one of the highest in the third world. Most common names for children are Cooter, Cletus, and Skeeter for boys. For girls the most common names are Jolene, Angel, and Starla.

A truly horrid place. The most corrupt people are given most of the power. We have the most corrupt court system in the country. Our police officers are akin to the mafia. A place where people will tolerate any kind of anti-social behavior as long as you say praise the lord. Theese same poor people are duped into voting for republicans, simply because they say I love Jesus, or I am a deacon in the church. Yet theese are the same people living high on the hog while the masses toil in poverty. I ask you Alabama is that what your religion is? Feeding off the powerless. The government officials are loathe to improve our schools for that very reason. That people will not buy the lies they are selling. I'm tired of hearing about polite southerners also. Most of them are so pig headed and rude they are intolerable. Outsiders look out we got no need for change here!

Alabama is one of the greatest states in the nation. I don't care what all you Bama haters out there say, the only steryotype down here that's true is the one about our love of football. AND WE'RE ALL PROUD OF IT! So i dont give a flying crap about what you friggin' YANKEES say. Sure, we may have some rednecks, but we're proud of that too. No racism, and some of the greatest food you will ever eat. I end on this note................ROLL TIDE!!!!!

Alabama is a beautiful state, despite what you may have heard. The people are extremely nice, until you get to know them. Most people have Southern accents, they get thicker as you go further south. Intelligent people live there, but they are few and far between. The girls are pretty, but wear three pounds of make-up on their face so who knows what they really look like. Most people in Alabama are racist, whether they will admit it or not. People in the south in general are ignorant to the fact that not everyone from the North is a Yankee. Football is loved by all people, but rivalries are WAY to strong. People are very judgmental and talk about people behind their backs. The food is good, as long as you avoid fast food. I don't think we ever went to a fast food place and got exactly what we ordered. The state is full of very caring people, if only they cared about someone other than themselves for a change. Not a soul is caught dead on a Sunday morning anywhere but church. As for school systems, they need work, BAD. People don't accept ideas that don't match their own. Alabama is not full of rednecks like you might think, they are actually full of people who wear expensive clothes and have expensive things and are really shallow and just want people to think they are loaded. I lived in Alabama for many years, and when my friends and I got bored, the most fun thing we could think of was to go to Wal-mart, and you thought you lived in a boring state..
