side hustle

A term used almost exclusively by Americans, who are somehow still in denial about how rigged the economic system is in favor of the ultra-rich, to describe the second or even third job they have to work to meet the same standard of living their parents had 30 years ago.

All through his childhood, Mike's parents drilled into him that if he studied hard and went to college, the world would be his oyster. Unfortunately, everyone's parents said that, so everyone went to college. Suddenly, college cost several times as much, people were graduating with six figures of student loan debt, and the value of their degrees plummeted because of the law of supply and demand. Now, Mike is working full-time as a coffee barista. It isn't enough to pay rent and save money, so Mike had to move back in with his parents and take a second job driving nights for a rideshare program. This leaves just enough to afford the downpayment on a mortgage if he's willing to live with his parents until he's 40 and nothing horrible happens, like a worldwide pandemic or something. He refuses to acknowledge that the economic system is rigged against him, so instead of organizing for higher pay, better social programs, student loan debt relief, and higher taxes on the people who are ripping him off, he deludes himself into thinking he's "got this" and calls his second job a "side hustle" to make the fact that he's being screwed seem cool.

B-Side

A b-side was originally known as the song on the flipside of a 12" or 7" vinyl single that backed the A-side, but wasn't the song promoted or received the radio play. Today CD singles have b-sides along with remixes, even though ironically CD singles only have one side that is used. With CD singles dying a slow death today, b-sides are becoming a rarer commodity. B-sides were originally used to make a single worth the buyer's money and to get fans to buy the singles along with the album it came from.

B-sides are usually songs that do not appear on the actually album that the A-side appears on, ocassionally it does. The b-side song was usually determined not to fit in with the overall sound of the album or it was considered not good enough to be on the album or just plain leftover tracks, so hence it's usage as a b-side. B-sides have often gotten a reputation of being filler and sub-par, even though a good majority of the time b-sides are better than a lot of the album tracks, and in some cases, better than the A-side.

"Autumn Goodbye" is the b-side to Britney Spears' 1999 single "...Baby One More Time."

"Heartbreaker" is the b-side to P!nk's 2006 single "Stupid Girls."

Side B

In Super Smash Bros., the side special move (also commonly called forward B, side B, smash B, or over B) is a special attack performed by pressing the special move button with the control stick held left or right.

Link's Side B allows you to throw a boomerang at your enemies.

Kirby's Side B allows you to smash enemies with his hammer.

Snake's Side B allows you to launch a missile from his Nikita.

Side-by-Each

Refers to two objects that are aligned beside each other also known as Side-by-Side. Others have stated that it is used in Rhode Island, it is also prevelant in Newfoundland and Quebec and I beleive would be likely to be encountered through many east coast fishing communities.
It would be interesting to know if this originated from the French or Irish or through the Acadians.

Waitress, Can I hav' two eggs, side-by-each...and don't break the sunshine. (Two eggs, sunny side up)

I was out back and saw these two moose side-by-each, I turned to get my gun and when I looked back dere-dey-were...gone!
