Pop punk has been ruined by all american rejects, all time low, bowling for soup and Averil whatserface, Those bands dont even derve CAPS but Blink 182, Green Day, Box Car Racer, Rise Against, Jimmy Eat World, SR-71 and i guess the newer hawthorne heights are really good bands.

Starting with bands such as propaghandi and the vandals, true pop punk today is much more accessible and centered around bands such as Fireworks, Transit, The Wonder Years, Polar Bear Club, and to a lesser extent Title Fight.
New Found Glory is considered to be the band which brought Pop Punk into the spotlight and influenced all of the bands above to some extent.
Fall out boy, Sum 41, Simple Plan, ect. are not pop punk. They are no different than mainstream top 40 artists like brittney spears or miley cirus. They use the same gimmicky pop hooks and overproduction except with guitars and awful fucking clothing.

Shit music that is being labeled "punk" when its just as hard and fast as country. A true pop punk band is The Buzzcocks. Most of the brainwashed youth that listen to this "pop punk" shit started out at hot topic one day looking to fit in. So they bought some random shirts of random bands that they have never heard of for outrageous prices, went home, felt all "punk", went on lime wire, and stole worthless music from the bands on there shitty shirts. Then from there these teeny boppers went around sharing their findings to other clueless people, and the cycle goes on and on. Thank you very much hot topic and mtv for ruining what once was an ok genre.

basically, pop punk are popular punk bands such as blink-182, green day, sum41 etc...
thats how the "pop" got into punk.. cause its popular punk music.. well thats my meaning of it so yeah...
