Real Japanese girl: Shut up! Your name is really Katie and not Kyoshi. You're such a wapanese!

Wapanese girl: Well...I'm off to listen to my new Puffy CD! Sayounara Keiko-chan!

wapanese

insult regarding someone (usually white) who is a fan of japanese culture including anime fans. although people inside japanese fandom make distinctions between who is really wapanese and who isn't, the common perception to those outside of fandom is that anyone inside this fandom is open to the insult.

anime lover: I'm not really wapanese because I'm not obsessed with all things japanese.
japophile: I'm not really wapanese because I study japanese history instead of just using japanese words in conversation.
baka baka: I'm not really wapanese just super-kawaii because I'm not obsessed with japanese food.
pocky man: I'm not really wapanese because I don't pay harajuku girls to follow me around.
gwen stefani: I'm not really wapanese because it's not like I pay my harajuku girls to talk to me... right? heyyy, where is everybody? Oh, whew, at least Angel, Music, Love and Baby are still here.

Wapanese

Americans, usually caucasian teenage females, who have an unhealthy obsession towards anime, manga, and/or the Japanese culture in general. Not to be confused with otaku.

The main differences between the Wapanese and the otaku are as follows:

WAPANESE: Only know a few Japanese words like "kawaii" and "desu" but somehow think that means they're fluent
OTAKU: Study the Japanese language (if they even involve themselves with the language at all) and actually know a few useful Japanese words and phrases. (e.g. "Where is the bathroom," "Help me," "Food.")

WAPANESE: Watch anime and read manga almost exclusively, only deviating from this trend about once a month, or maybe more if they have school books to read.
OTAKU: Watch anime and read manga moreso that an average person, but still read and watch American literature/TV.

WAPANESE: Insist that they are budding "mangaka"s, even though they usually have no artistic talent whatsoever.
OTAKU: Don't usually draw manga, but the ones who do, do so because they are artistic anyway.

WAPANESE: Answer to a Japanese or Japanese-sounding name that sounds nothing like their real name.
OTAKU: Answer to their real name.

Wapanese girl: KYAA! That neko keychain is soooo kawaii! I want one-desu! I'm going to give one to my manga character Makiko!
Otaku: ...okay, um, thanks, but -
Wapanese girl: *bows* Konnichiwa! I'm Hikaru!
Otaku: Is that really your name?
Wapanese girl: My parents call me Heather, but Hikaru's soooo much prettier, don't you think?!
Otaku: *backs away slowly*

Wapanese

"White Japanese" literally. Pertains to Caucasians (myself included) who find Japan's culture superior to the homeland's culture. Activities include assimilating ourselves to the traditions, language and customs of Japan as a surrogate to the fullest extent possible.

Konnichewa everybody! Wapanese for life!

Wapanese

Through the years, ive come across a growing group of people called the wapanese aka wannabe Japanese.

Wapanese is a commonly termed used to describe a person white(commonly the female gender), black(commonly male gender), and rarely Hispanic, and Asians that arent Japanese.
They have great distinct liking towards anime, the nation, the people, food(usually sushi), novelty items and their language.
Though there most likely is more characteristics.

1. The typical wapanese will be a white young female or the not as common black male gender.

2. The white female gender wapanese commonly say phrases such as kawaii which means cute,(may or may not pronounce the phrases wrong) wish to live or visit japan, wants to be around the japanese all the time, believe that Japan is the greatest country ever,(this is shown through defense towards Japan if they are accused of being a wapanese, as comparing Japan to America using false accusations against America and praising Japan.

3.The black male gender wapanese though do not show the same characteristicts believe the japanese are cool and wish to visit/live there.

4. The female white gender may range from shy to extremely irrating apart from being wapanese.

5. I believe that all wapanese however have succumb to wapanese status through anime. It may be possible that anime have in fact given them false sets of reality of what Japan is really like and that it is in fact and a normal modern society not knowing of the wapanese actual existence and may in fact depending on who they are not like them.

6. Through my observation i believe that in fact anime is the root towards the wapanese, shown as an influence to them.
There may possibly be millions of wapanese out there as anime makes its way across america which will cause the wapanese.

7. Also commonly disliked by normal people due to their rant/behavior and depending on which gender they are may be outcast.

8. Will have an open discussion about anime japan and anything related to japan.

And while the wapanese come in many different shapes and forms the most important thing to remember is to keep these rules in mind.

That girl definitely was wapanese when she explained to the class what her japanese nickname meant.

wapanese

A Caucasian person with an unhealthy obsession with the Japanese culture. They worship an idealized thought of the nation, and typically aspire to move there. They take cannibalized form of Japanese speech, integrate it into English, and consider themselves more kvlt and Asian than anyone else. Common hallmarks of a wapanese: excessively pale, has a fetish for homosexual Japanese males, collects swords, claims to be a master at martial arts, eats Pocky, dines at Asian restaurants whenever possible, lives and breathes anime, does their own translations horribly, refuse to listen to anything but Japanese music, claim said music is better than any Western music, and lives on manga forums.

A lot of the people at anime conventions are wapanese.
