On a TI-83/89 scientific calculator, pressing the 'MATH' button and then the '9' button prompts a function that enables the user to find the answer to a type of problem called a definite integral within a few keystrokes. The alternative to this is doing it all by hand, which is very time-consuming/tedious. So, by simply using "MATH-9" you save yourself some time and a headache. This can be loosely applied to situations in life that require work, but whoever is supposed to be doing that work is lazy/uninterested so they opt out of it by finding a simple alternative.
Bob: Ugh, my girlfriend was bugging me to mow the lawn all day!
Charlie: So did you give in or what?
Bob: Nah, I just MATH-9'd that shit and paid some neighborhood kid to do it.

The quick mental math you do to find out how much Mountain Dew costs per can when it is on sale.
It was five dollars for five twelve-packs. I did the quick can math and figured out it was about eight cents per can!

Dumb math
The 'easy' VCE maths subject. Used to be for dumb people who cannot handle calculus, but now it is full of overachieving spesh kids trying to get 50.
person1: "I need to get 99.95 atar for med what subjects should I do? "
person2: "Do further maths for the perfect 50"
person1: "My parents won't let me do further tho, they think its for dumb people aiyaaaaaa"

P1: "Wait, what possible reason could he have had to punch that cop? There's no possible permutation stemming from that that doesn't get him arrested, or possibly worse."
P2: "You're just not doing the idiot math here. Put yourself into the mindset of a 12th century peasant and you'll understand why he made the choice he did."
P1: "I still don't understand."
P2: "If he defeats the cop, then that guy can't tell him what to do anymore. He wins in his own mind, and that's all that's important."
P1: "Oh ok, I think I understand idiot math now."
