punk rock

A brilliant form of music that was actually founded by music god Lou Reed with this band Velvet Underground (sorry pop-punkers but it was the great Mr. Reed who actually has talent that founded punk, not fucking GC or some other crappy excuse for a band). Other real punk bands include the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, The Buzzcocks and many more.

Lou Reed and Joe Strummer are excellent musicians. Benji Madden and the guy from Blink 182 are shit. Can't get a better example than that.

Punk Bitch

A person that is both a punk, someone who has no future, and also a bitch, a cowardly person.

"I heard that Adam bitched out of a fight"
"Yeah and he also works at McDonalds"
"I know, what a punk bitch"

Punk Slut

A female at a punk show or a punk girl in general who is very attractive and is dressed in revealing clothing. A common code word is "P.S.".

You and your friend are at a punk show or chillin at the mall or at you school. "Dude, theres a punk slut behind us." Your friend looks, turns back, "hell yeah". I would suggest using the "P.S." term in this situation.

pop punk

A type of music which is similar to classic punk rock music, except with appealing vocals/instrumentals. Because the genre is catchy, lots of people listen to it. This irritates others, because punk isn't supposed to be popular.
People who listen to pop-punk normally know that they themselves and the bands they listen to are not punk, they just listen to the music because they like it (or they listened to real punk and didn't like it too much). Most actually respect punk rock bands, just choose not to listen to them. The same probably goes for the band.

Pop punk bands (that are good if you give them a chance):
The Offspring, Sum 41 (not the early Sum 41), Green Day, Blink-182 (early).
Stuff that is sadly in the same category: Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, New Found Glory.

punk rawk

The reason people label those "punk rawk" bands on MTV as posers, is because those bands = posers.
Punk died in the 1980s. I wish they'd stop trying to resurrect it. I've debated this over and over. Punk is dead, kids. Get over it.
Now, I bet some of you will ask, "Zack, why does this matter?". I'll tell you why this matters. It matters because the genre is dead, and now the bands who claim they are punk are NOT a part of this genre, they are a sub-genre of pop, which is why it's called "POP-Punk". It's popular to like this new "punk rawk", and quite frankly, the record execs are only making money off this new "genre" they've created.

"But these bands are REAL punks! LOLOMG!"
Sorry, kid. No, they aren't. Punk died before you were born, I'm sure.

I'm not saying that anyone shouldn't listen to this new, pro-found genre of "music", that's up to them.
I'm just saying that punk rock is dead, because it is.

Bands of this new "genre" do nothing but whine their damn heads off. This new "genre" is basically a sped up version of emo music. Oh man, do I HATE emo music. It's not for me. I don't like listening to guys who sound like they got sacked in the nutsack by a football player whining about how their girlfriends left them for the guy who works in the donut shop.
Thanks, but no thanks.

I don't mean to sound rude, but i'm tired of listening to these MTV-watching 12 year olds who think Simple Plan and Good Charlotte are the best PUNK bands ever.

These kids don't know the real punk bands, because the REAL punk bands hardly ever got any airtime on radio.

True punk bands: The Ramones, The Clash, Bad Religion, Black Flag

Posers: Blink 182, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, the list goes on...
