Sunday Love You: (n.) When the host of a one night stand, typically a man, drops an 'I Love You' in order to hurry a partner out of his dorm room/apartment so that he can get to all the work he's been putting off for Sunday. Generally effective 95% of the time but has been known to miserably backfire. Never to be used on a suspected clinger.

Actually, the origination of that concept on any given Sunday belongs to my dad, Jack Lavelle, a well-known sports figure in New York in the 1950s and the chief scout for the New York Football Giants. It is documented in a book about the great Giants teams of those years by New York Times reporter Gerald Eskenazi. Ironically, perhaps, I remember as a kid meeting his great friend Bert Bell, the NFL Commissioner.
The teams are so evenly matched that on any given Sunday any team can win the ball game.
