it usally arrises in a situation, when a person belives they are so good at something e.g. football, games etc and they are basiclly up theirselves but only during the event.

pertains to someone who's reputation is the embodiment of awesomeness or is so in control of their location/situation that if they were to commit an act of epic self degradation (sucking dick) their reputation wouldn't be harmed.

This can also mean too good for your own good.
Don't be too smart for your own good. It has it's own way of catching up with you.
Most of the young and inexperienced is too smart for they own good.
