D'Agostino Effect

When your friend rages at a video game so frequently that it causes the mood of the entire group playing with them to lose moral and get upset more easily.

Dan: "Wow I can't believe how mad Tyre got on Xbox last night."
Peter: "Nah man it's not his fault, he was playing with Tom, that's just the D'Agostino Effect."

leigh effect

Anonymous: Why is he happy all of the sudden?

Unknown: Oh, its that leigh effect.

zipper effect

The chain reaction caused during the last 10-15 seconds of class when someone loudly zips their backpack, this in turn causes everyone around him to look up at the clock and immediately start packing.

Guy 1: Class was taking forever today, I had to resort to the zipper effect.

Guy 2: Works every time.

Falklands Effect

When a country, a group, or an individual which might have been expected to tamely accept the theft of its possessions or other bullying fights back, and thus sends a message that it, they, him, or her, is not to be trifled (or f--cked) with by the bully or by anyone else.

Similar to the Stonewall Effect (q.v.)

After the U.K. retook the Falklands, the Argentines never attempted another invasion, and there was a noticeable drop-off in other types of adventurism by tinpot despots around the world, largely because they had been chastened by the Falklands Effect.

Batman Effect

An either voluntary or involuntary (often involuntary) effect that a person may have when walking up to a group of friends. People don't usually notice people with the batman effect when they walk up because they are quiet and dont say anything when they do so, also, it usually scares the person/people that the person is walking up to. Just like the DC comics superhero, Batman, hence the name "Batman Effect"

"WOAH you scared me, i didnt see or hear you coming, it's like you have some sort of batman effect." "Yeah i get that a lot, I don't even do it on purpose, it just happens"

Pitchfork Effect

Indie kids around the world flock to buy and/or download the latest high ranking reviewed album published by the quintessential yet slightly biased indie music site, Pitchforkmedia.com.

Generic Indie Kid #1: (As he laces up his pre-worn converses)
"OMG Pitchfork has just reviewed the new Times New Viking!"

Generic Indie Kid #2: "Shit! Seriously?! That's the new lo-fi noise rock band isn't it?! I'm so downloading that right now."

Metal Head: "The Pitchfork Effect at it's finest..."
