A harsh reality that many people come to the United States in order to start over and live a better life by having freedom, social equality, better education, and money, but yet for most people who come to this country, this dream will be impossible to completely achieve until several generations later, assuming they have a family with children, because of limited resource access and education, poor understanding of the social norms that most people in America actually follow, and distrust of immigrants in some parts of the country.
Pema and her family moved to America from Nicaragua in the hopes of starting over and help her children live better lives than what they had in their homeland, but they found it was exceedingly difficult to live in the U.S. because of the differences of Americaās social norms compared to Nicaraguaās social norms and difficulty getting a job and finding decent housing. They are experiencing the American dream paradox.
Similar to plain ol' American Dream, except when you're done you wake up in a pile of goo an feel really embarassed

The American Dream: The American Dream is the act of doing āthe deedā in a fast sports car such as Lamborghini
Girl: Hey Clay why donāt you give George a ride in your new car and show him āThe American Dreamā
Guy 3: Yeah you need to show our innocent British friend āThe American Dreamā since us Americans already know what that is
The American DreamĀ®, though it used to mean something, has long since become a symbol of consumerism, corporatocracy, and, quite frankly, bullshit, to a large portion of the more critical population.
Well I'd like to tell you all about my dream, it's a place
Where strip malls abound and diversion's mere moments away
Where culture's defined by the
Ones least refined
And you'll be left behind
If you don't fit in
It's all distorted
In americana my way
Well my dream has come true
My vision has come true
Now give me my cable, fast food, four-by's, tat's right away
I want it right now cause my generation don't like to wait
My future's determined by
Thieves, thugs, and vermin
It's quite an excursion
But it's okay
Everything's backwards
In americana my way
Well my dream has come true
My vision has come true
I'm a product
Of my environment
So don't blame me, i just work here
My rights are denied by
Those least qualified
Trading profit for pride
But it's okay
Everything's backwards
In americana my way
My nightmare has come true
My nightmare has come true
Yeah, it's all coming true

Dude 1: Why does everyone hate me
Dude 2: maybe you should stop working a mediocre job only so you can afford driving a pickup truck, eating fast food, and sitting on your ass all day.
Dude 1: No way, dude. I'm just living The American DreamĀ®
