Pope Gambit

An attempt to make oneself appear squeaky clean, carried to such extremes of austerity or public self-righteousness that this person has just gotta be hiding something.

Jerry's pretending he doesn't feel attracted to Ralph, and going about talking about cleanliness of mind and body as he attends meetings of this group of homophobic God-botherers. He's obviously playing the Pope Gambit.

Bradbury gambit

Named for Steven Bradbury's 2002 winter olympic speedskating gold medal victory, simply by being the last mf standing. The fine art of letting the rest of the field dnf themselves or near enough that they are no longer a threat. While you skate on through to nab the EZ Clap gg's.

Perp1: This is a fuckin' fast field, and our car is toast after the last heat.
Perp2: Their rides are just as fried, if I stay out of trouble I could Bradbury gambit and podium, they are driving like maniacs out there.

Run the gambit

A phrase mistakenly used by people who do not know 1) what a "gambit" is and 2) that the correct phrase is "run the gamut."

My musical interests run the gambit from rock to classical.

Chesterfield Gambit

Whenever your friend does something so fucking clutch that you make up a bullshit name for it so that it seems like it was planned.

β€œDude, Brian just shot my grandma!”
β€œAin’t no way bro just pulled the Chesterfield Gambit!”

Pants Gambit

When the subject removes his or her pants, in place of a logical or rhetorical response to an argument. More often then not, this seems to result in a 'win'.

Don't bother bringing it up with Robert, he'll just go for the pants gambit.
